Engine micro chipping

Has anyone one on here ever had it done, or driven a lorry that was “tweeked”
Remember hearing some horror stories in the past that if it wasn’t done properly, more often than not the engine would meet a premature death. Does it still go on and if so, was/is it worth it for a few extra horses ?

With some vehicles the only difference between the lower powered one and the higher powered one is the engine map in the ECU, other than that they’re mechanically identical and the only reason there’s the lower power version is to get more sales for buyers who would rather have a bit more fuel economy over power.

So what would the price differential be, from speccing say a 420 hp engine to a 500 if bought from new?
(just using these outputs as an example)

On the V8 Scanias theres about 30k in price difference from the lowest to the highest

I know the 730 has a different setup to the others, think it uses egr and scr, where the others are just scr, but is there a big jump from a 650 to a 730, as the 650 seems really popular, where as you never see a 650 volvo, generally just 750s
