And your conditions sound much worse than mine, as does your constant negative attitude. You must hate your life man.

Hate my life? no but would hate yours, I think toilet cleaning or suicide would improve your dead end existance,
My life is having a laugh on the way to the bank, topped only by laughing at the tnuk toytowntruckers, the 10/15/20 year ‘experts’, yeh, real highly skilled , professional, real world truckers, confirmed by that limitless capacity to issue forth their trucking drivel experiences, to their close nit multi thousand posting fan base, the tnuk faithful, real world mature adult truckers, backing up their drivel with exotic located photos of a stinking truck to be viewed and enjoyed by their excited chums and childminded equals, I hear that fork truck drivers photo their ‘steads’ to upload to their excited chums to be seen and enjoyed, milkmen and their floats likewise, could be rdc myths though, only way to verify is to be a ■■■■■■ who goes to one.

My work [hgv] is spending 7 mnths aggregate in uk, working 5xnights through same agent for same client 11 years now, now is the busiest period, I know every night run so am held as standby ,average 3 nights doing just that, nothing, bar being paid for the shift,if I’m not drafted I go home on 6 hours,I am content to lay on the bed in the cab for the 6 hours,.

Hahahahahaha best laugh I’ve had since Boss & Driver graced the pages!! You dont half go on, Your not carryfasts long lost brother are you?

Dead end existence? You have been working for the same client for 11 years and you know all the trunk routes!!! Hahaha now that IS a dead end existence you completely looser in life!!

this is why I love the internet !!

Too many threads insulting driving as a profession. Ok its a piece of ■■■■ and its not brain surgery but there is no need to disrespect how people earn living. I don’t go on a traffic wardens forum and start nipping their heads about how they earn a crust. I could never be a tramper but i wouldn’t say anything bad about it, a lot of folk love that life let them do their own thing.

Go easy big chiefs. Don’t take it personally! I think it’s quite normal to explore and change occupations in the 20s. And fair enough for trying things. I tried stacks of different stuff. It’s when you get older you change your outlook but you kind of have to see it try it first. Driving will always be there to come back to of you regret the move.

Only thing to be said, is I believe a dead end job is only one you dont enjoy and can’t see yourself continueing to enjoy it. If a job brings happiness into your life then it’s far from dead end as why would you want to change it if you are happy? Isn’t that what we strive for? A dead end job, to me is one that brings increased unhappiness.

Good luck with your new job. Hopefully the steel industry wont go downhill like it did a few years ago, atleast you can come back to driving if need be.

Put ya hand bags down you ■■■■■■■… Monday is Drama queen night… Tuesday is ladies night… Wednesday is drag queen night

The OP was just saying that he’s done a few years on the road and he’s changing career direction, well good luck to him… Ive worked in an office environment for some 24 years, started at the bottom of the a service industry directly from school and worked my way up the the career ladder to management and towards the last five years I hate everything about the profession I was in and the BS that went with it,… five years later my employers ended my career due to an injury :imp:

But I got me self a class one licence… did that as a fall back, well I was gonna jump ship years ago but got screwed by the ressesion

Wouldn’t entertain or even consider going back into an office environment now, its the open road for me, just give me a stack of delivery and collections and let me go then Im my own boss, no one to answer to…

New job! The original post is two years old, Redcar steel has shut down & reopened in that time hasn’t it?

Billyhunt

Redcar steel is now called Sahaviriya Steel Industries ( SSI ) … some company from Thailand that now own it… :grimacing:
