Stobarts will not be renewing the Super League Sponsorship with the RFL for 2013, full story :
you call it sponsorship, but lets be honest now, how mch did each club get in actual money from the deal? from what someone told me stobart got the name splashed everywhere and in return had some trls with rugby logos etc on… the clubs didnt get money just publicity… maybe another case of eddie doing the best for himself while not giving a toss bout others.

I wonder if their decision would have been somewhat different if Widnes Vikings had been at the top of the Super League instead of at the bottom,holding all the other teams up■■? Bewick.

That’s all company’s, it’s the nature of business. If you think a company isn’t careless or selfish, that’s just because the marketing & public relations departments are doing their jobs properly.
After reading the article though, I don’t see what the problem is, I take it Stobart were advertising it for free or paying a nominal sponsor fee to raise it’s profile which it has done and now the rugger chaps will look elswhere for a bigger sponsor prepared to pay big money which let’s face it if you’re in transport, you haven’t got.

i’m sure they didn’t hold a gun to their head, if the deal isn’t good for them then they didn’t have to agree to it. one firm advertises another firm and in return they advertise for them. sounds fair enough to me

In 5 five years, I’ve never been asked/told/expected to do anything dodgy. Why don’t you tell us all what dodgy stuff your made to do?

Ive never come across anyone in RDC’s that have had an issue with them, yea we have the usual banter but thats all it is. In fact when you talk to people Stobart isnt that bad a company to work for. The pay is above average for a large driver employer, the benefits are better than some others too. Uniform, Yes we may dress as Elfs ‘as people say’ but to me it looks a ■■■■ site smarter than a pair of scruffy jeans and a polo shirt. We are supposed to be professional so why not dress that way too.
Slag them off as much as you like, its publicity for the company and the guys at the top love it.
It’s a shame really, I like rugby & loved the trailer liveries…

Agreed, too many drivers look like a sack of ■■■■…the Stobbie uniform isn’t too bad…however, it’s a shame that their professional approach doesn’t run to paying a professional’s hourly rate. That said, if the drivers are happy (and most seem it) fair play.

I agree with Happysack here! Planners push YES! But it’s up to the driver to say NO CAN DO! I was there 4 and a half years and never asked to do even a 10 hour drive! Money was always bang on! Only gripe I had was holiday pay! Expected to work MAX hours but only paid 9 hours when on holiday!

I work there and I’ve not been expected to run bent and never would, I have always been told by supervisors when I questioned my hours etc that im in charge of my licence and digi card and it’s up to me too keep em both clean that’s why we get cpc training , and if a planner said to do something and I can’t I’ve been told to tell them I can’t!!! ,speak to supervisors as it’s all on isotrak comp to back you up so of any probs it’s there!! so if your not trying to take ■■■■ you be ok!
