at end of shift been putting tacho on rest / bed as per instructions in book, but on the 1 st lot of checks ive got no infringements but advisory warnings for each shift stating - mode unknown , assumed rest [ words as far as i can remember] , boss has said not to put it on rest at end of shift just withdraw card but when i went in this morn it was on cross hammers , so to my way of thinking ive had 9hrs on other work and not rest. any ideas

I presume this is a digital tacho card you are talking about? I haven’t used one yet but I understand that when you start a shift you will be given options to make manual entries and to confirm the time you ended your last shift. The time you withdraw the card is likely to be before you actually end your shift, you could for instance be returning keys and paperwork to the office, clocking out etc.
If you are not doing the manual entries it could cause the infringements you are getting, i.e. not confirming the end of your shift means it isn’t recording you as beginning, and taking, a rest period.
it is digi coffee, thats the odd thing there not infringements just advisory notices, you can see ive had the breaks on the forms , all i do at end of shift is set box to rest, end country u.k, 24 hour print out no, when you select no or yes for 24 hr print out it auto ejects card , but you could have a point with manual entry ill have to try it.ta
