The TC used to be concerned about the distance between an external transport manager’s “office” and the operating centre. The travelling time must be counted as working time. But with the universal use of modern communications, email, Skype, phone-cameras, scanners etc, is the physical distance no still relevant?
A Transport a Manager cannot fulfill his role without being at the premises. So yes, it is still relevant.
They’re stricter about it now than they ever were in the past. You have to provide direct evidence of considerable, and meaningful, “contact”, and I got the impression if there’s any “travelling” involved, you’re too far away. I was questioned by a TC about how I intended to give full attention to a company about four miles away.
Not this again.
