get your CV out to them. i did it with a couple of companies and i got a job offer after 3 months. the offer stands if things dont work out with my present job. dont wait for companies to advertise. get in there first and they will come to you when a vacancy opens up
Don’t let a few empty promises get you down too much, they may genuinely not have any jobs available this week.
The agencies are probably the best bet as a newly licenced driver, but that is not always the case so you don’t have to wait to get the experience. Get the Yellow pages out & write to some other operators in your area, it a method that’s always worked well for me.
Where are based, what type of work are you looking for, what are you prepared to do, if from london-airport area, loads of transport companys
worth a try, what about ““Tanker”” work try asking there as a lot of firms will
all ways be looking for new drivers to train up to operate as they wish you to, Brit-european-stoke-on-trent, they have a very large and mixed working fleet,Tilts,Fridges,Tanks,CAR/LORRY/JCB–transporters,stobart also worth a try, just a few I am sure a few more firms may be posted from some of the other users.–all the best with the job search,

That is part of the problem, location
I’m in Cornwall, near Redruth. There is not a great deal down here, none of the big players anyway. The nearest rdc to me is in Bridgewater in Somerset (Argos)
I am prepared to get a job elsewhere if I was able to find some accomadation.
I’ve heard of jobs which supply accomadation as well but I can’t seem to find any at the moment.
dont forget the option of going for a class 2 job with a company who also runs class 1. they will get you out on artics soon enough whether you like it or not
Dont let a few knockbacks get you down, like Daxi said get in with the agencies and start getting experience whilst still sending off letters and ringing around until something better comes along.
What I did was type a standard letter on the computer with stuff like email address, mobile number, home phone number, details of any experience you might have etc etc. Then go through the phone book and print one off for all the haulage companies you can find. All it will cost is a pack of envelopes, some paper, a couple of books of stamps and some ink for your printer. I sent ten letters off - with no class 1 experience I was offered two class 1 jobs, and also another on class 2 which would see me progress onto class 1, all within a few days.
If you do that, I’d put money on something turning up.

Agree, this sound like a reasonable option, class 2, and then one day a driver does not turn in, or agency fail to provide??
Hi Mate don,t give up on agencies as there are some good ones out there [few & far between] there was some agencies advertising round the London area offering accommodation with the job try truck and driver mags they usually have the adverts for drivers but take some advice from a golden oldie don,t necessarily take the first one to come along but use the job to ask other drivers at deliveries to see if they know of anything as usually the drivers are the first ones to get to know of any vacancies in theirs or other companies and any decent driver will tell you what firms to steer clear of try and keep away from the ones who can,t keep drivers and don,t let inexperience stop you from saying “NO” to a boss as always remember no load is so urgent you have to risk an accident getting it there what can,t be done today can wait till tomorrow better to be a day late in this world than a day early in to the next one as I have yet to meet anyone who has come back !
There is always someone who can take your place no one is indispensable when you go your old boss will be inconvenienced for a while but he will get by.
