Employers Only

What’s in it for you?

An Ex-Military person with logistics experience working in your business for two weeks, free of charge
A £700 payment, per person at the end of the two week period

All we ask of you

Two week work placement

Carry out interview after the two weeks

Give feedback

The purpose of this initiative is for ex —Military personnel to gain valuable work experience within a logistics business environment.

Surely Malc, you can work that out?

2 weeks free labour, as in, you don’t have to pay them

and at the end of it THEY pay YOU £700 for each ex-military person that you have for a 2 week period

so, basically, if i had 3 spare trucks, and took 3 of these people, i would not have wages to pay for 2 weeks, and i would receive from the £2100

so, if you work out about £600 per week for an employed driver (inc what you have to pay on their behalf), multiply by 6 and add the £2100

on 2 weeks, the operator would be £5700 in profit

That is what Skills for Logistics are doing for the industry.

Come and work for free and watch others profit from it eh? :unamused:

Skills for Logistics is the UK’s Sector Skills Council responsible for the improvement of people in logistics.

Which people?

Wouldn’t say you could stick them in a wagon for 2 weeks though, probly have to work in the office or some such.

fair comment, but, it doesn’t say anywhere in Malc’s opening post that you can’t stick them in a wagon for 2 weeks

It is to give personnal who are in the process of leaving the forces an insight into the industry that they would like to go into…Depending on the amount of time they have served ,rank etc ,they will have a certain amount of money to spend on pre release courses, and if you can find a company you can spend the 14 days with in your chosen profession all the better …An employer can if they wish have him /her spend a couple of days in the wharehouse ,then the office ,maybe somedays out with a driver etc ,it doesn’t have to be 14 days in a vehicle …There is no pressure to employ them ,you are just giving them an insight of the industry ,as they are generally in their last 6 months service in the forces ,though if you find a good one there is nothing stopping you inviting them back for a job when they are finished with the forces…Although i’m not sure but i imagine that you can register with the forces employment service as someone who is willing to assist in helping people in the process of leaving the forces ,

Where is this I would be interested in trying this trial
