Employers falsifying tacho info?

Some of u might remember, i was driving for an owner driver, who left me stuck in France very ill. When i got the all clear at the end of Feb, he ask me to take the truck for a run ,But whilst i was ill, he’s transport manager, didn’t want anything more to do with the company and took his operator’s disc out of the truck, SO as u do you look round the truck, just to make sure everything is still there. I found a tacho disc with the old “tm” name on it, but he never drove the truck, and the date was after he left !
Also he told me, he used “old” driver’s names on the tacho’s, and he told me he had found a new transport manager, who lives abroad for 6 month’s of the year !!! Time to leave…
I’m now in the process starting out as an owner driver, but I’m worried he might be using my name on the tachos some time , what do u think I should do?

Some drivers where I work routinely put another tacho chart in if they run out of hours, using someone elses name, usually someone from the office.
It really ■■■■■ me off. :imp:

so why have you done nothing about it?

Topcat, advise VOSA, in writing, that as from whatever date you are no longer involved with this company. Then if tachos after this date show up with your name on you are covered.

a call to the authority’s would do for starters

Once on a Coach trip we got caught in traffic, bad traffic, very bad traffic & the driver ran out of hours & asks if anyone has a PSV.
Problem was, he wanted a name for the chart not a driver.
He got told in words he found very offencive what I would do if he tried it.
Don’t do it.
Don’t work for those who do.

Were either of the words ‘Martin’ or ‘Oliver’ involved

As coffee says inform VOSA right now of when you left the company and also tell them the dates you was in hospital therefore unable to be driving, this happened to me and when i was ‘invited’ to go speak to VOSA at Chelmsford i was shocked to be presented with 5 tacho’s with my name on and all with serious infringements on them, i had to produce all sorts of proof of when i left this company and you really don’t need any of this hanging over your head if you’re about to apply for an O’ licsence matey…trust me

thanx for the advice, will inform vosa. It’s amazing that people still pull stunt’s like that. Also i think “TC”,should do more in depth check’s regarding “TM”,and the whole set up of company’s.
Sorry Rob K, neither Martin nor Oliver, but must have been taught at the same school of “Rogue haulage operator’s” academy
