Emergency stop - compressed air released?

Hi all just quick question, just curious really.

When you have to do a sharp braking manoeuvre (like someone suddenly decided they wanted the left turn they over shot no indication) as in just short of an emergency stop. what causes the front wheels to hiss like compressed air tap being open and closed? I get its the ABS but thought it was electronic?? Didn’t realise any air braking system on front wheels only on back ones for park brake?

This is on a 65 plate rigid Renault.

Cheers all

Its air brakes across the whole truck I believe and every truck is different so it will do its own thing in regards to noises. It is quite unnerving when you’re driving something you aren’t used to.

Its electronicly controled like on a car, but the force applied on the brake pads is done with compressed air. The repeated hiss you hear will be the abs system releasing some air pressure off the pads to prevent a lockup.

To stop the wheels locking ,it has to release some air ,so the modulators will rapidly apply and release the brake on the wheel wheels that are about to lock

Umm, did anyone else try squashing that damm insect crawling around the screen on ops post?!
No?
Just me then
