Hi All, I am a new pass driver who has been driving for 1 month now. I was wondering if any drivers suffer with a sore backside and get a rash due to long sitting.
Is there anything I can use or do which will help me reduce soreness?
Thanks

Thanks ,I will try changing washing powder and try wearing different material.
Thanks
If you’ve a nasty plastic seat cover, try sitting on a folded towel.
Put a loop of elastic around a towel and you can hang it off the headrest. Easy to wash, and good if you’re cab hopping.
.
Edit
Douglas Adams knew what he was on about!
back in the day those beaded seat covers worked for some with said condition, me personally couldnt get on with them i just suffered the dreaded red stripe… ![]()
The soreness is caused by sweating , a few options are Sudocrem or Savlon antiseptic cream or apply talcum powder .
Apply Sudocrem beforehand and it should keep things under control. Doesn’t feel brilliant, but nicer than a sore arse.
Clothing probably makes a diff. Defo no thongs (either gender) and suspect boxers might not help.
Only had that when the seat was knackered like concrete or wasn’t set to “bounce”.
A dusting of Talc in the boxers when getting dressed in a morning should absorb a little moisture
So you’ve only done the job a month,.and already you’ve got an arse like a Japanese flag. ![]()
That’s nothing mate, wait to you’ve done the first 20 years of sitting in a driving seat, and you get the old astronomy symptoms…Asteroids around Uranus. ![]()
Bring on the Preparation H. ![]()
Sudocrem may help - but it does tend to stop the skin from “breathing” so may actually not be that effective. Problem is that warm, moist conditions “down there” can often lead to fungal infections, which really need something along the lines of Canesten HC (Hydrocortisone cream with fungicidal ingredients) to deal with it. As Robroy says, a sore arisole can easily develop into full-blown Chalfonts if you don’t get it under control.
Go see the practice nurse at your doctor’s surgery - If nothing else, it will at least give them a laugh ![]()
You need the air cooled set that I’ve got in my TGX [emoji6][emoji16][emoji16][emoji3587]

No not over weight yet. ![]()
Thanks all for your responses, it’s much appreciated.
The strange thing is I was a minibus driver for 6 years and had my own allocated vehicle and didn’t come across this problem there. I wonder if its maybe the HGV seat having different bums on it all the time and people with low hygiene causing it.or maybe it could be my clothing. As a mini bus driver I always wore trousers shirt and maybe its the material of my work trousers.
Ill try wearing jeans or shorts to see if that helps.
Cheers guys

You need to do a bt of detective style investigation on that score then mate.
Bite the bullet, just get right down there and give it full inhalation, …fill yer lungs ![]()
Seriously though, if it’s THAT bad, I reckon I’d be giving it a severe deep clean, leaving the night heater on overnight to dry it out.
Then a can of fabreze,.and a new seat cover.
