Look on the bright side they’ve obviously made glass that’s stronger than steel for added crash protection.Which is needed when your torso and head is about level with the load deck of the truck in front.

Not been close up to one, but I am sure it will have enough technology to help avoid running into any thing within reason.

Local dustcarts etc and many long distance coaches have drivers sitting fairly low with no crumple zone in front of them.
One would imagine that a wee bit of self preservation might kick in to stop tail-gating or similar?
.
But since the *"it hasnt happened yet, so clearly it is not going to happen later"* thought process seems widespread, maybe that isn
t so.

Correct - I wouldn’t work for that rate & can dismiss job adverts purely for their use of clichéd office jargon.
However, I don’t find the Volta prerequisites (as listed above) unreasonable or clichéd. They don’t want a ‘Luddite’ taking the job or someone moaning because they prefer the growl of a V8 to the smooth, gentle sound of an electric motor.

Fine I’m in.Look on the bright side there’s not enough payload for all the batteries that it would need to make it fast enough to have to worry about frontal crash protection or rolling it in a corner.

Second thoughts it’s the perfect job for an ex milk float driver.Id get bored after an hour of plodding around a test track trying to maximise the range figures before the batteries go flat.Assuming they don’t explode first in which case at least the access from the cab looks quick.

We are in 2022 not 1972, Battery vehicles are nothing like you think they are, they will quickly get to a stage where they will be replacing all diesel powered vehicles & probably a lot quicker than we can imagine.
I suppose you have views similar to Foden when they said steam is the future not them new fangled oil burning engines.

Not the job for you CF, those doors look far to big - you’d be complaining of being used as a labourer having to open & close them.

Let’s just say that the Rosenbauer driver won’t be applying and it’s got nothing to do with the doors.

30-50p per kWh + road fuel duty and 20% VAT when a litre of diesel contains around 12kwh.
By that logic Foden would have been advocating standardisation on Hercules petrol engines.
Not to mention the cost and weight of the batteries.
