You’re not the only one that’s wondering
This is just so they have an excuse to dig up the motorways for smart motorways v2. Plus of course of we’ll have a new closure if a trailer flips and hits one of the cables especially a double decker, so we end up with the lines coming down or electrifying the trailer. Wonder how this would work with safe distance from petrol tankers and other flammable loads.
As for the unit, that looks like a day cab and looking at it, that looks like its far too close to the trailer so how do we hookup without either a mavis rail (urgh) or split coupling on a sleeper cab.
