are they still operating,or did they wrap up ?
If you’re referring to the Glendinnings from Shotley Bridge, they moved to the Pity Me depot about 9 years ago, then moved from there to another industrial estate in Durham, next to Wavin Plastics. The name Glendinnings is gone, but I think they still operate from there but with plain white trucks and called Durham Car Storage
consettbell:
thats a different glendinnings mate, the one im after is W.A. Glendinning, like the ones above, although I think it was part of the same family that ran the other one
Oh,okay mate - I’ll keep looking for you then.
Still a class photo of the S106.
Your dad proberbly knows the two fitters at our yard (consettbell), Geordie and Willy Richardson, worked for Glendinnings for years then moved to Paul Hodgson Transport up in Bedlington, now known as elite car transport.
He does, and so do I. He owns a couple of vintage ERF car transporters, one artic one rigid, and used to run them under the Paul Hodgson name. We often meet him at the Barnard Castle truckshow or the Chester le Street steam fair
Thats the two of them stood next to their wagon at Chester le Street
And this is both of the transporters. The rigids body was made from bits of a skip wagon apparently
The first time I met him at the truckshow, me, my dad, george and willy spent half an hour all packed into the trac unit cab keeping out of the rain…
these are my dads old ones…
the flat bed he had since brand new
Great pics mate, any more?
were the two glendinnings photos taken in consett steelworks?
A few more pictures of Elddis motors. Sorry about the quality - only had my phone with me!
NK57CJE - Only a few months old and it’s already had a replacement cab after ending up in a ditch. I first drove this when it was about two weeks old. Now it rattles like an old wagon!
NL52YTA - The first motor I drove for Elddis.
NK04JVG - Now becoming my regular motor when I work for Elddis!

Cheers mate
I often see NK04JVG on my travels to and from college, but them tetley ones are fairly rare
I’d heard they had a few tip over in the winds, was that one of them?

NK04JVG is based at Worksop so you probably see it on it’s travels up to head office.
I’m not sure how many Tetley liveried wagons Elddis run. I’ve driven both of the ones that are based at Worksop (NK57CJE & NK57CKO)
A couple of their motors did go over in the last lot of high winds. Apparently one driver got the sack as he was told not to go out. He’d not gone very far when it went over.
NK57CJE went into a ditch in December on the M18/A1M roundabout after apparently swerving to avoid a car which cut the driver up.
Another Elddis

Another Elddis
Not many MAN’s on the fleet.
That is a photo for the H&S lovers amongst you. I prefer Neils Natural Selection
Are Glendinning still involved with the transporters?
