Hi, Anyone remember Salvatrans in Portsmouth I used to pull SCAC trailers for them in the late 70’s usually car parts to Coventry, long pins & palm couplings.
Regards MaggieD

Wasnt there a LDD about an Owner Driver with a 6 wheel F16 who did traction for SCAC years ago??.. Back end of the 80’s if i recall, the F16’s hadnt long been out…

Alan Mortons trucks were driven by Sam Davies (twistlocking in Soton somewhere) and Dave “Barney Rubble” Brown.

Rocket Ronnie Ridgers from Lymington did a lot for SCAC, “Todd” and “Sid” RIP Mckenner, Kevin “Handbag” Screech, Les “Tonto” Richmond…

Magaret Brooker and her “boys”, however many there are left are down here not far from the airport.

hi buzzard boy… yes there was a ldd about a f16 his name was mick brown from notts area used to see it going up and down m1 a few years ago pulling a block trailer with hiab on, but not sure if hes still running now thou mate. :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Her,s a few pics of Davies trucks when we used to pull for Scac.

seeing those old scaac trailors brings back memorys of the late 70s early 80s,at portsmouth ferryport late at night ,we used to get called in to offload the overweight trailors and deliver the excess on to its destination usually a london produce market, was a nice little earner alround, had to take of enough weight to make them legal this side, some trailors were declared over on the paperwork others were caught out on the weighbridge! they were the best ones you never knew what you were loading or where you were heading.

hi kns64
was you on scac in thoses days then, i remember henry, bob and eddie.
i was on there then driving for paul maggs with the mack. and also with alan morton, happy days… who was you on for then ■■? and who are you■■?[/i]

Hi Ian
Never pulled a scac trailer used to work for BI thats how I know Henry.
I worked with Eddie and Bob on another job Bob has just retired early
his choice he is in good health Eddie packed up driving about 18 months
ago due to a back problem. I think another guy who work for BI was in the
office Peter Stavert. I remember the Mack saw it parked in Merryoak once
and often in Portsmouth, the guy who drove it was a stocky guy with tattoos
I dont know if that was you? Used to chat with a lot of the guys in the cafe while
waiting for trailers to clear customs. The last I know of Henry he working
for Thornes Sheffield ? as he moved up that way.

This is the closest I got to a Scac Trailer mines on the left.
