Just wondering if anyone is using anything better for wifi? I use a 4g mini with 30 gig data on a contract, contract is up end of next month so does anyone have anything better or found it to be better than the EE box?
I’m with three. It was £45 per month but just reduced to £24 as I’m on sim only now.
For that it’s unlimited internet, unlimited texts and 500mins calls.
Seem to get reception pretty much everywhere as well.

3 are only unlimited on the phones, and you can only use that to tether 20 gb. Their dongles only do 30 gb max
On my home wifi with 3 I get 40gb for £20 per month and on the one I take to work it’s about £10 for 15gb.
3 just about to up their prices from August. Unlimited data, 3000 mins and 3000 texts will cost £35 up from £25 [emoji15] bet people are gonna pay for free roaming in the EEC now.

We already are. The 30GB roaming data cap has been dropped to 12GB.
It is very subjective, what works and is value for one person won’t suit the next person.
I have been with 3 for donkey’s years now, I have nearly always had unlimited data and texts and minutes.
Currently, I pay £46 a month for my phone, that gives me
unlimited data on my phone
9gb a month tethering
600 minutes
All i can eat texts.
This is a legacy plan they don’t offer any more as I wanted an unlimited data plan when I went back out on the road.
Although mine is due for renewal very soon so will likely change my plan.
Generally, I have no issue with reception or internet speeds in the majority of places. Apart from the obvious in some waiting rooms at RDC’s. Out in the middle of nowhere, I get decent signal and internet most of the time.
I keep looking at other networks but at home is the important thing, you need one that has good coverage at home when your out and about than so many factors can come into play.
It is horses for courses and I may or may not switch providers this time, mainly because 3 are not offering the HTC U11 which is the phone I want.
I looked at a basic phone plan and a MiFi dongle but I think it works out almost as expensive and more devices to charge, carry around etc. So I stick with a decent phone I can do everything on and can tether if I want to.
In the last 4 months according to my phone, I have not used much more than 10gb of data in any month. I use my phone a lot, watch TV on sometimes when I am sat around waiting but I would not say that is major heavy use. I use lots of apps youtube and the like and emails on my phone not to mention updating apps etc. Like everything, it will be down to how much you use something and where you are in the country at any given time.
I also use a tablet which I use streaming services on but tend to download movies to watch when I am stuck somewhere, downloading at home on wifi saves using mobile data whilst out and about and solves the issue of no reception in those cases or even buffering issues whilst out and about.

So just to be clear before I leave my contract, have I got this right. I have a mobile wifi box with 30gb of data per month which I connect my iPad to which I use for Internet browsing and traffic updates on CoPilot sat nav. Is everyone here saying they use their mobile phones for browsing and if they use that to connect to an iPad or whatever then their unlimited data gets reduced to only. 10gb for tethering.?
Pretty much. I have an iPhone 7 with 40gb, and two mobile data wifi boxes, both with 8gb. Both on EE. I got a good deal on the mobile boxes, they were on a double up deal, I pay £12 a month for both
Yes you have to look at what amount a contract allows tethering. Using the phone as a hotspot is pretty much the same as a mifi. I don’t see the point in a mifi unless your using it to connect multiple devices as the same time.

I have a mifi box from 3, 4Gb per month for £20 have yet to be anywhere in the UK Europe where I have been unable to get a signal, have not used the 4Gb yet download films and TV when at home using BT infinity
I have a mifi box from 3, I get 20 gb a month for £14.00, can connect up to 10 devices, best piece of kit I’ve had for getting signal and downloading movies.

I don’t have a laptop …use my data any where in europe …got my new deal in Jan…on sim only 4 12 months I’ve been wiv ee ( t mobile )4 a few years …ask 4 the 4g max plan

So far because of the tethering limitation issues that are imposed on mobile phone use, I think I will be sticking with it, I have an iphone 5s so its not the biggest screen for reasonable use, I like my ipad tethered to my EE wifi box. Thanks for all the replies though as it shows what is available.
