hi guys, can anyone tell me if Stobarts still run left hand drive motors? Got an interview at hawleys, soon and it’s a while since I drove left handed and even longer on artic, thx in advance
They do for the units based abroad.
There’s one or two old left ■■■■■■ Scanias in there but everything else is right hand drive Mercs
You will get full training on all aspects of the job you are being taken onto do so don’t worry
N.b but ,I was meant to go on flat beds ,training was meant to start 2 weeks ago ,but apparently there not sure what training too give us so it’s not happened
They used to have some Belgian registered left hookers that I think were on the NAAFI contract, don’t know if that is still so?
I haven’t seen any left-hook Stobarts for ages … used to see them on NAFFI work, they had a load of Belgian registered units, but not seen any of those recently either.
Only left-hookers are the CZ registered car transporters.
They have a couple of 10 plate left hookers on the international but they will soon be gone.
All the other topline scania’s are also left hookers but are driven by the CZ,s so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Yep, over the past few weeks I’ve noticed white, unliveried, CZ registered Scanias pulling Stobart trailers around Germany.

I saw at least 5 of them yesterday, going north on M6 and M40.
Those un-liveried White Scanias are (so I’m told) double manned by Czech drivers, they are being paid the vast amount of €1200 euros a month!

So it would appear that Stobart are now partaking in the modern slave trade of employing eastern European drivers on international routes to save a few quid on wages. Who’d have thought it of such a fine, upstanding organisation?
Of course they will argue that they need to compete on the international stage in the face of "“stiff competition” and that their drivers receive “competitive wages”.
Coming soon in the next series of “Eddie Stobart: Trucks and Trailers”: “Pavel and Marek open a can of Aldi dog food as they cannot afford western European prices on their measly eastern European wages. Meanwhile, Stobart take delivery of a new gold plated helicopter”

You are pretty clueless really aren’t you? If any company has drivers or workers in another country they pay wages equivalent to that countries economy. It has absolutely ■■■■ all to do with an individual company. If they are registered in that country they get wages for that country. Theres far more to it that paying someone a uk wage because their wheels touch uk land for a few days.
Go and boil your head soft lad.
Western European hauliers have been exploiting EU law (freedom of movement and right of employment in any member state) in order to employ (and exploit) eastern European drivers on eastern European wages on international routes in western Europe for a number of years.
Has it escaped your attention that the UK (I will exclude mainland western Europe in your case as you will probably never get over the water in a truck) is currently swamped with RO, BG, CZ and all points east registered trucks pulling B, D, DK, ES, F, I, NL, S registered trailers ?
The reason? These poor sods are employed on eastern European wages whilst subbing to western European hauliers who are getting fat on the extra profits this throws up.
These unscrupulous barstewards care not who they hurt in the process (Bogdan and his chums or the indigenous workforce) as long as they can report positive results to their shareholders.
That you choose to defend this practice smacks of turkeys voting for Christmas.
Have a pleasant afternoon, “lad”
I was chatting to a Bulgarian driver when I was in Varna last year and he said he was on 1500 euro a month. If he was to work locally he would be lucky to make 300.
