Anybody notice that the trampers were cooking their meal on a stove above the fuel tank, hope it was`nt gas, not recommended.
Why not? It’s diesel not petrol in the tank FFS. Cooked on the tank hundreds of times with never a problem. You never seen anyone actually light an open fire under the tank when the diesel has frozen then?
At my induction at Crick I was told that the gas cookers weren’t allowed due to insurance problems! Thats why they pay a really good daily meal allowance. Slightly better programme than last week.

Hi all… I’ve braved it and come back on here. Thought it went well bit weird seeing yourself on tv but your comments on me was as far as I seen good and was nervous ( hand shakin again) about the response.
I think you gave a good impression Mark, so well done!
Personally I’m not sure why people have a problem with Stobarts or their drivers, every time I’ve come into contact with them, I’ve never had a negative experience.
First time I watched the programme, and I was wondering how often you cook your tea outside… that was the bit that looked a bit stage managed, but hey, overall, I was given a good, positive view of transport. (And most industries are not always what they appear to be!)
Gridley51:
I know Bewick has done it in the past, but transport like everything else has moved on and the old way of doing things is no more.I used to read what Bewick had to say about things and enjoyed his posts but hes a changed man when it comes to Stobbart. He decries Stobbies for taking work but he boasts on another part of the forum how he done it to other companies. Its called competition and its fair.I had more respect for him when he didnt feel he had to run other businesses down or make his innuendoes and if thats spelt correctly Ill give myself a crackerjack pencil.
Mark.

Said by the most smug, head up his own backside twerp on trucknet … but he’ll still watch it ,probably in his shed sat next to all his Bewick tspt memorabiliar
It was this post that has upset Gridley, but through a slip of the pen (keyboard) it appeared that Gridley is vitriolic to Dennis too. I apologise for that. However the posts have been quoted again so I cannot edit anyones else post to rectify my mistake.
Ex Haulier:
Where do all there old vehicles go ?. Must be exported somewhere are they ?. Don’t recall ever seeing them on a dealers forecourt. Do they do maintenance in house ?.
The firm I work for runs 8/9 these ex stobart volvos all with a registration prefix of PX…
i watched this episode and i found it good telly them new 10 plate volvos look nice,as for the gas stoves not being allowed, paying a good meal allowance doesnt really cut it.i drive an ex stobart truck and its got neither a fridge or microwave fitted and this was a trampers motor, surley fitting them would discourage drivers having gas stoves in cabs.
mark your planner aint got a clue mate fair play to ya for putting up with him day in day out.your motor looks tidy with the wheeltrims on howd ya get away with that i didnt think stobart liked that kind of thing are they on the new one
the spotters are very OTT he doesnt like the new name so he might stop spotting stobart oh my life grow up man
It will be interesting to see where they are going to fit the toilet on their units.Otherwise it was a much better program than last week. I’d rather watch that than all the other rubbish on tv.

You should have seen Tor 11 in Ludwigshaven, with Donald (doom and gloom) cooking sausages, someone else frying chips, a couple smoking electric woodbines and all using the spare toolboxes on the side of the tankers, some loaded with acetone, some with acids and a few with toxic gear
Well, wouldn’t it be the most amazing thing if Fiona, whose only minor criticism was that she drove trucks with girl’s names, was given the only truck on the fleet with a boy’s name in some future episode?

When I used to have to do nights out I used to cook outside whenever possible, mind it was a 7.5 tonner so not a lot of room inside. Now I’ve got a decent sized truck ( XF ) I don’t get to do them at all, on balance though I think I would rather have " the wife " cook dinner while I’m sat with my feet up watching the telly ( good job she never comes on here LOL ).
Said on the other thread that I think it would be good if they spent some time focusing on how dangerous it can be for other drivers near trucks if you don’t pay attention and drive sensibly.
Mark, you came across pretty good, would kick your planner in the nuts if I was you though. Showed the human side of the business when they named the truck after your youngest, with the much criticised " boys " name on one of the trucks you may even get your lads name on the next one.
Still would like to see William and even other company bosses on here sometimes, maybe could explain why they do things the way they do them.

Yes yes yes I would sooner watch Eddies then have ■■■!
Are you into sheep as-well “George”? don’t tell me you are a “Marra” eh! Dennis.
Im with you dennis, get some of these suited prima donnas on top of a load of reels on a flatbed trl with 2 sheets and flysheet with ropes.See ,how they perform then, anyone can open doors and curtains.
regards dave.
I really enjoyed the programme personally, didn’t know fridge trailers could be split with a moveable wall at different temp zones, learned something again .
Nobody has mentioned the dreaded red dots on the “big screen” when mr stobart notices several motors running empty at a £1.50 a mile loss, impressed with the technology though !! (as the clients would be i’m sure ) , as for the “spotters” i don’t understand the collecting of the fleet numbers thing myself either, nor indeed , stamp collecting but live and let live all the same. 8/10
Quote of the week, “marks in for a blow” that for me was a classic rewind the sky+ box back moment, I had to just to confirm thats what the narrator said and i wasnt hearing things.
Anyway fiona and mark came accross as good decent people, unlike the 1st show which was full of trumpets. The planner guy was a total prune, and one last question. just what was the planner smoking in the moking shelter? Yes i did say moking!
