Thought it went well bit weird seeing yourself on tv but your comments on me was as far as I seen good and was nervous ( hand shakin again) about the response. Im back on your tv in a couple of weeks I think until then I will probably get moaned at for all the smellys in my window…
It’s so hard tryin to do ur job without your bad habits easy for half hour but with a film crew with u for near on two weeks we do forget… Sorry for wifes or lady drivers on here called Hilda or Edith first names that came to my head

Said by the most smug, head up his own backside twerp on trucknet … but he’ll still watch it ,probably in his shed sat next to all his Bewick tspt memorabiliar
Getting really noticeable, must annoy him that this upstart is turning £10 mill a week and has 3000 drivers.
I only said the bit starting “really noticeable” don`t know how you managed to get my name in to the previous quote.
On edit:I think Boris wrote it.
I know Bewick has done it in the past, but transport like everything else has moved on and the old way of doing things is no more.I used to read what Bewick had to say about things and enjoyed his posts but hes a changed man when it comes to Stobbart. He decries Stobbies for taking work but he boasts on another part of the forum how he done it to other companies. Its called competition and its fair.I had more respect for him when he didnt feel he had to run other businesses down or make his innuendoes and if thats spelt correctly Ill give myself a crackerjack pencil.

Well yes it is true that she had to call Scania out to put her red airline on, but then on the other hand I wouldn’t crawl over her to get to you.
lol maybe not but then i would not have been there … i would have got my air line on and got up the road to collect my next load lol
I would have been more interested in getting rid of my last load.
cockney:
Now i have stopped laughing… I could just see me ringing the boss… Hi boss that fridge trl you have asked me to pick up i have got a problem… i cannot get the red air line on … can you send out a fitter sorry technical engineer to sort the problem out !!! the answer yes mate you just sit in the cab and keep warm, and remember to keep your door locked mate just in case someone try s to rob you … my boss is good like that lol any comments

It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had to ask another driver to put the red on for me! I did have a twingey back at the time though and was giving me a lot of grief. Nothing wrong with it imho as they can be really hard work on some truck/trailer combos, esp fridges and 45ft boxes on a 40ft skelly.
Ive had to get somebody else to put the red on for me too - the bugger wouldnt go on
The problem now days is… when i came into the business in the late 70’s i had to learn how to load a trl. mainly flats roping and sheeting … how to use chains and dogs…yes i got hurt not bad but enough to learn how to do it first time … I was that small i had to put two doll’s in the rope to get it tight… the only way i learnt it was not tight enough was when the driver kicked my ■■■… but i did learn…with the chains and dogs… when i pushed it shut and did not get my fingers out the way in time… now you try and put another five chains on a load with you right hand throbbing you learn… Now most drivers only want to open a curtain or the back doors and pull on the bay… same as loading you got to learn that if you have a single pallet you put a stack of pallets next to them to stop the falling over… this is one job you never stop learning …

I thought it was a nice touch them naming your new truck after your youngest, was that a genuine suprise
How do you see out of that window with the curtain half closed
I was pleased when I saw that his new truck was named after her too.

To be honest… I think you came across far better than those last week, but can you next time instead of bleeping out the swear words or saying " F word" say [ZB} if Eddie can get free advertising dont see why we shouldnt catch a free ride

Like I said on a previous post Gridley51 “Bewick was a South ■■■■■■■■ haulier, most of the South ■■■■■■■■ fleets were put out business when Eddie Stobart entered Barrow In Furness, company’s like T Brady (Bewicks ex employer) Ray Steel, Shaws, Ashburners, Bewick, Barkers etc no longer in business, so you would naturally expect some bitterness.”

Now come on Gridders old son I’ve never decried Fast Eddie for taking any work! I only ever came in contact with them once near the end of my time at Bewick Transport when we were awarded a 3 year contract with a large Paper merchant ( prior incumbent Wincanton) The Fast One was on the list with a lot of others.I know things have changed but not the basic’s of operating costs i.e.Wages,Fuel,Road tax/Insurance.At least at Bewick transport we paid proper wage rates. If you apply inflation to the wage rates bandied about on these threads I would suggest that wages have reduced. You can’t do a lot about Fuel prices and RFL and to a lesser extent the cost of equipment but it sure seems you can “screw” the drivers. No I would not wish to return to the fray, for one reason we all get older, but at least when I was operational all my cards were "face up"and I certainly never took the rise out of our drivers! Best of luck to ESL in all their endevours but lets not have a "sense of humour failure"lifes too short when your on borrowed time like what I’m on!!!Bewick.
