Now Stobars shares sold at London stock market. This news will help to raise price to sharesholder.

Maybe but all is not rosie in the camp…

'The Stobart Group board has delayed the company’s annual general meeting which was due to take place on 28th June.

The board is facing a challenge from director Andrew Tinkler who plans to vote against the re-election of chairman Iain Ferguson at the meeting.

In a statement, the Stobart Group board said the AGM would be “at a date slightly later which will be announced in due course. The AGM documentation will be despatched as soon as the new date has been set.”

Logistics Manager News

That’s a different company, the boardroom falling out is at Stobart plc who do airports, a small airline, property, rail infrastructure and biomass, and no transport except for the walking floors. The company mentioned in motor transport looking at buying out another 3PL operator is Eddie Stobart Logistics owned by William Stobart and Douglas Capital a private equity company from the Isle of Man, this is basically the old Eddie Stobart Ltd.

There’s also WH Malcolms… they’re into containers, and have rail depots, and then there’s Pentalvers too.

Pentalver s is owned by the USA Group that owns Freightliner.

Not sure what you are getting at, I just posted a link to a topic already posted on this subject before this topic was created. Normally a mod merges the topics and job done.

Read my last post above.

Ah

C ■■■■?

Butts are a cash rich company with no real debts, and have quite a few good contracts on their books. Gerald is still alive and is company secretary and director, and some of the remaining family are on the board as well. Clive Hodgkinson, the former MD has retired, and Karl, his son, resigned as operations director in 2016 around the same time as his dad. Looks like the family are in charge period now.

However. The 2017 accounts are interesting.

A £11.1m turnover, with £1.8m profit. But taking into account expenses and dividends, a net loss of nearly £677,000 was posted. But retained in the accounts, was nearly, yes you’ve guessed it, £677,000 made up from the holding company and other things.

Ken.

Downton s has already been sold to the same Hong Kong group that owns NFT and NR Evans.

My money is on Maritime in view of the vast no of credit checks done within the last three weeks,(106 on Downton ,Nft,Nr Evans belong to Emerwest. But Emerwest it is not logistic company. They simply buy and may be will sell in future.Nft talk who they have simply contract with them for some 6 years.

Sorry to go off topic but, Andrejs, this must be the most coherant post you have ever made, did you log in with the wrong account? lol

It would make sense for it to be Maritime - after all, if you’re about to lose the right to use the household name you’ve been trading under your whole history, taking over another household name company solves that problem.

Maritime seems cheap at 50mil. Let’s be honest they are one of the biggest names on the road. And it’s less than the price of a good footballer. I know haulage has small margins - but I assumed they are worth a lot more than that.

I think company value not so much depend from number of truck. Most truck now not company property. All depend from company contract value.

Lomas Distribution. They seems to want in on tanks?.

Might be so regards names. But many companies spend vast amounts on new names and new corporate images, for no apparent reason that I can see!

May be Keedwell aka Keedwell Group [emoji848]

My thoughts at this sad time go out to the drivers about to be given the green uniform. :frowning:

  • they don’t have any drivers

I too think that £50m for Maritime seems too little when Downton went for £75m. Keedwell could be a good shout.

From Andrej’s link, 3PL is actually a haulier. I’ve seen their trucks out and about pulling containers mostly, and unaccompanied euroliners. Based on Felixstowe according to their website.

Oh I really hope not. I drive for them sometimes and they’re a nice bunch

Maybe a bit of wishing thinking on my count, but I really can’t envisage Maritime selling up to Stobarts & certainly not for £50m. Like another poster just said, £50m seems quite little given the vast number of depots, the railports, container terminals & the fact they own all the kit. Maybe just the distribution leg, but again I couldn’t see them wanting to hand over all the progress made with that to the arch rival for £50m.

Far more likely I think it’ll be a smaller fry competitor for that amount, for instance I remember strong rumours the other year they were going for Farrals in Chester.

I would suggest John Williams will want to enjoy his millions, he is 60 in February and Tom is 30. Why would you want the hassle?
However with all the smoke and mirrors that William and Andrew have used throughout their tenure may simply mean they have borrowed some more money to buy themselves out! [emoji14]

John Williams? - I’ve only just stopped laughing from the notion of “taking over 3P0”.!
