GEOFF[i  [/i]

I take it this will be out of Warrington  .

Member ‘JB’ (Jon) works for them on Euro pulling a tipper to and from Belgium and ‘Quinny’ (Ken) has a good mate working for them on Euro too. I think there’s another lad on for them on UK tramping but can’t remember who it is.

Give it while after the weekend coz if they’re on tramping this week they won’t see this post until they get back home :exclamation: .

from what ive been told its a good job steady enough i knew a few guys that worked outta lokeren in belgium and i never heard them say a bad word about the job.id go for it geoff

A mate of mine worked for them on the International side of things about
6 years ago, and from what he said they were paid by the day and not the hour
and you would earn more money on UK tramping, this may well of changed
now. The one thing he did say was out of all the continental jobs that hes ever done Stobbarts was the most laid back & easy job hes ever had, which must be worth something. You could do a lot worse and get a job with H Freund at Runcorn Carrington to Koln x2 Carrington to Belgium just to finish your week off 97hrs + 5 nights out :open_mouth: :open_mouth: i dont think so

Neil this is why the firm mentioned no longer has a company here in the UK with lorrys, they are all on GERMAN plates and have been for a few years.
this was also the case for ED-CREST i belive a former subsidiy of DE-ROOY --ENDHOVEN, and also ACH are they still working last time i met one of their wagons the driver said ,they HAVE to take 11hrsrest each day with out fail due to being checked outby the MINISTERY–UK ,
NO i am not going to say that all fims based in the UK are good or bad BUT what is GREAT about the UK is how the Strong controls and fines or closure of the companys does make the bad ones think again,
THE BEST EXAMPLE I can post is what the GERMAN firms say when they send their drivers on the road, OUTSIDE germany keep to the rules
as the FINES are hurting when they are caught out, also when the offence
is that bad the BOSS–or TRANSPORTMANAGER ends up comeing out to sort the problem out,but in germany they are not that hard enough on the
real culprits, the ones in the OFFICE ON THE YARD;

My Dad started for them out of Warrington on fridges a couple of weeks ago.
So far so good according to him.
2 Lokeren’s a week, ships out on the first one on sunday morning and is finished the second one by friday afternoon.
You have your time off at Lokeren while a Belgian Stobbie tips and turns the trailer in Germany (with his own unit)
Re loads are either empty cages back to Preston or Yoghurts to Culina at Market Drayton.
Facilities are good at both Lokeren depot & Market Drayton, 04 Plate R/H Drive FH, works out to about £105 a day (don’t quote me on that) and the phone hardly rings all week.
Bit boring though I should imagine!

thanks for that… i was unsure if i was gonna be away for 3 weeks at a time!! money is the same etc… my job is holiday relief driver but is permenant…
was assesed in a left ■■■■■■ so unsure what i will be using next week…
felling a little nervous now…

How long did it take you to get a job with them.someone said yhere`s a massive waiting list .

Pay no attention to reported waiting lists. Companies may have huge lists on paper but by the time a driver leaves and they need a new guy, 9 out of 10 of the guys on the list will probably be settled somewhere else anyway, its usually that way I think. If they need someone its suprising how quickly they’ll call. Bit like me with my agency, I went into them the other week after getting my class 2 licence back and they point blank told me theres no chance of any work at all until i get a few months experience…which is why the day after they called me for an urgant job and I’ve had 4 days work in the past week with three different companies.

i called in asked for tom maklin filled a form in on site, couple of days later had the assesment, then got the phone call…

Daz:

Bliss!! Sheer Bliss!

Hello geoff,
Everyone starts on holiday relief, I did it for a week before getting my own motor. Its all good tackle and fairly easy work (compared to tilts anyway!! ).
The office lads are fairly good… (if you can get them to answer the bloody fone  ). Did tom say whod be controlling you? Dave is the fridge man, phil, toby and chris are the "mega-cube" controllers. Lee humphries is the walking floor controller and senior office bod. I like the job, you definetly wont become a millionaire driving for eddie but theres a hell of a lot worse.
Lokeren depot is run by hans rhombaut, its spotless and has good facilities-two clean showers, washing machine/tumble drier and iron, microwave, fridge, sink. Sky tv, dvd and video player theres even weights and gym equipment in the warehouse. Some of the lads spend 7 or 8 weeks away, some come home every weekend. There fairly accomodating if you need to be home. If you need any more info geoff send me a pm and ill help if i can.
rgds jon (walking floor)

If you’re anywhere near S.Wales they were looking for drivers out of Cwmbran…

I used to live in s.wales but now live near chester but cheers for the help :sunglasses: ady

IF you are looking for work in EUROPE;TRY :::: BIRDS; DENBY; WALTERS;
BEER; BRIT-EUROPEAN: SHIRLEYS: CRANLIEGH FREIGHT; as these do go abroad. you should find them on the web as well.
These are just a few of the firms that do go over the channel , worth a try,

you missed nobbies of the list ( norbert dentrassangle)
i have got an interview next week running out of the valence depot (france) so will have to see how it goes.
only problem is the depot is about 3.5hrs away and will probly bring the motor home at weekends, french companies do that a lot with out based drivers.
oh yeah one other problem i might end up with a twingo     but they are now putting actros on the fleet so will aim for one of them.
salut
chris

does anybody know if they are recruiting at the moment   being made redundant soon   and thought about giving them a try.
