Hi I’am just out of the military and have been asked to come for a driving assessment and interview at crick just looking to see if anyone as got any recent experience of this and any useful information that would help.
Useful Information, don’t crash
Give it a miss and a find a job that does not expect 15 hours a day, every day!!!

I work out of stoke, but Just show that you are safe and I’m not expected to do 15 every day at all!
See the other thread that asks the same question yesterday in respect of Widnes.
Good Luck mate.

Magnet? Assume the trucks are to new for a wire?
Not at stoke! Trampers motors may be ok but day/night motors some are in a dirty state, I wouldn’t sleep in them even in a emergency , I get the wipes out everyday!!

Did you have any LGV licence be it the free pre 1997 C1 or by passing a LGV test before 09/09/2009 ?
Just checking to see if you are under Driver CPC aquired/grandfather rights until 09/09/2014 OR whether you need or have passed the initial driver cpc ■■
There have been quite a few exiting the forces recently without having the correct DCPC requirements for commercial civvy LGV driving
Hi Scrappy, I work out of Crick and have done for just over a year so went through the assessment not that long ago.
The assessment consists of a licence check (both parts obviously) and you’ll need your digi card. There’s a written test covering tacho and WTD regs which is pretty straight forward (assuming you have a reasonable knowledge of the reg’s).
The driving assessment will consist of walk around pre work checks and there may be a coupling / uncoupling exercise (although I didn’t have to do this) If you come to work for Stobart’s they will go through how they like this procedure carried out on the induction course. In summary, it goes something like this (assuming you’ve done the walk around checks on the trailer and checked that the parking brake is on) - reverse up to the trailer, lower the suspension, reverse under the trailer short of the pin, then raise the trailer up and reverse onto the pin. Stop get out, put the clip in then do the tug test. Connect your suzies, red air line first then towards you with the rest. Wind your legs up then release the park brake. Number plate in then check you height indicator is correct. Uncoupling, brake on, legs down with a few winds in low gear, suzies off, un clip, pull the king pin, pull off the pin then lower the suspension, then pull away from under the trailer.
The drive will be around the local area in a 4 wheel Scania with a manual 4 over 4 (no splitter) and I think the trainers are looking for a safe smooth drive. They’re reasonable guys and aren’t out to catch you out in my experience. At the end of the assessment you’ll be asked to reverse into a parking bay probably between two trailers but nothing difficult (unless you make it difficult by trying to blind side when you can always spin round in the yard on your good side).
If you pass the assessment then you’ll be invited to stay on for an interview with an Operations Manager or similar. Like with any interview, they’re looking for a positive attitude etc etc.
Hope this helps and good luck!
recently seen advert for drivers wanted at stobart hawley lane warrinington on agency. anyone worked out of here before that could tell me if its worth ago or give it a wide birth?. i live in warrington and after some decent tramping work but this is one of very few could find in the area. any comments will be welcome but take it easy you stobart haters im new to this site .

about driving.basicly you will be drive about 2 miles.from Stobart at Crick till M1 J 18.make U turn and go back.in this way will be 5-7 roundabound.better if you before assestment drive by car around Crick industial estate, because some roundabound little bit different.especialy if yuo go from M1 side and turn right to Royal mail side will be small roundabount ,you must turn left, can easy touch kerb, and if you go from Royal mail side in this roundabound will be road sign “Stop”(not “give way”),and in this street from Tesco Frozen till NFT SPEED LIMIT just 20 or 25 m/h.and some time if you overspeed you can fail assestment
