My mate’s been for an interview there about a week ago for Tramper holiday cover. He’s not been driving long and was asking me about it but I’ve never really heard of this.
Any thoughts/ideas. I’m looking at you ady1 and dessy! Any input would be appreciated.
Seems pretty self explainitry to me. Did a bit of tramping holiday cover last year.
Basically you in a differrent trucks every week, tramping round the UK or further depending on the job.
Don’t really like it, you’re basically in somebody elses home and office, even if they’ve taken thier gear out.
If they’re a messy person then the trucks a mess if they look after it you trying to be careful not to make a mess.
You need to carry all your own gear from truck to truck, I managed to get it down to a kit bag and a small ruck sack. When I’ve cleared my own cab out in the past I’ve nearly filled my car with gear.
I’d prefer to go tramping on a regular motor, so I can sort it how I want and keep it as tidy and clutter free as I like. But if you need a job you can’t be to fussy and it does put you in the right place to get a regular truck if a vacancy arrises.
By the way it wasn’t for Stobarts. didn’t read the title.
It’s pretty much covered by Muckles so I here! I’m a Tramper so when I’m on holiday the wagon is used by the holiday cover man while I’m off! Mine is generally used by agency men as I’m based at Aveley!
Truck to truck is a deffo!
So it’s a common thing then, not just a flash in the pan idea that they’re trying out? That’s good to hear. I told him it’d be something like muckles said but didn’t know Stobbies did it.
How’s Appleton to work out of? Good or bad rep?
As Appleton is their Head Office! Enough said really! If your mate don’t take crap! He’ll be alright as long as he don’t toss it off too much!!
