Eddie Stobart Advert

putting all this to one side, id of thought when they finally do hook a new driver theyd use a bit of sense and give him the impression they care a bit.
t.o -ring up,can you take new driver sat with you and show him ropes
me -yep
the job involves a fair chance of running out of hours,it has last couple of times, so 1 st shift not only will he probally do 15 hrs, it will involve a night out, and as theres onlt 1 bunk and im sleeping in that, hes going to find somewhere to sleep, not the most sensible run to put a new driver on if you want him to stay :exclamation: mind seeing as hes going to be taking home 38k p.a he could afford the zb hilton hotel

I’m bored on me break so I’ve just rang the number on the ad and asked a few questions, the pay for the weekend tramping job advertised was correct there is no trail period on lower pay, he said that on average a tramper doing a 60 hr week will take home about 38500 a year, providing you stick to some driving standards fuel saving what not which is worth 17 quid,a hour a week a year I don’t know, suppose I should have asked  £20.50 a night out with 13 quid meal allowance. He also said the 40 k you could earn if you worked overtime like your rest days and what not, you do get your own motor how highly spec’d he didn’t say which is your own…until you go on a 2 week holiday to Spain (i take it stobarts tell you where to go on holiday too) and when you go away you nominate a driver to drive your motor and only he/she/it will drive it! Hope this helps anyone or at least makes somone laugh!!!

Maybe £8.12 p/h isn’t bad after all-and I don’t even drive an artic or do more than 50 hours a week with no weekends!

According to what I’ve read above I must be working for a different Stobart :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Works easy, plenty of time for deliveries - if not phone the help line…sorted. 100% legal I really can’t understand or grasp any problem :unamused:

Or maybe I’m a blue eye - which I very much doubt. I simply do the job I’m paid for!

Does every single ES driver have to work weekends? I would apply for a job tramping mon to fri if it was no weekend work but only because the motors are tidy and work easy. I would not be wearing the uniform with pride in truckstops though as some do I dont know if they think they will get folk asking for photos and/or autographs but the swagger on some of em is unreal they only do the same job as the rest of us :unamused:
I think I would actually be ashamed to wear the shirt, as was the lad I saw yesterday sporting a grey vest and sunglasses was to as he turned into the road I was leaving

Same story for me and I worked there 3 separate times, if I could not do the job or was going to be late, just call my planner and he would sort it out.

Mind you, I had known most of the office guys n gals a few years and they knew I didnt mess about or moan for no reason.

I had a great time.

so if its that good ,well paid the word would get about wouldnt it  ,so why do they need to advertise in national paper to try and get drivers, surely word of mouth would have them fighting to break the door down, if not 38k take home for 60 hrs would, :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: .

Strange ideas, the best job I ever had was working for vdb, start Thursday, finish Monday/Tuesday, same truck, normally same trailer, maybe stobarts wouldn’t suit me

just had my stobi tattoo finished today, looks fantastic

My job was advertised in a Paper…money similar to Stobarts, but no weekend work…If I wasn’t where I am now I would definately go for it…whats so good about Sat & Sun anyway ■■?apart from not as much traffic on the roads, and you still get your legal break aswell…But this is ESL so as usual it is Lets give them a good kicking for creating jobs, at least they actually get paid for the work they do unlike other Haulage companies who have advertised in the Sun recently…Looking at the state of some drivers you see on the road these days maybe it would be a good idea for all firms to supply clothing, because some drivers i’m sure, go home on a Friday in the same clothes they wore on Monday!!! Like the driver in our yard today who had obviously never heard of deodrant!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Deepinvet:
…whats so good about Sat & Sun anyway !!!

A chance to see your kids and family and spend some quaility time with them!!

A chance to socialise with friends and family, have some sort of social life and and enjoy their company.

BBQ`s on warm summer evenings, having a lay in for abit on a sunday morning before taking the kids swimming or something because you have been away all week and they have been at school.

Cultivating a family life!!!

No the reason I left 3 times was to go travelling in Asia.
I would always work for an agreed period of time and then jet off to the sunshine.

They used to let me live in the truck as well but I dont think I could do that now.
So I was either parked up or working and I could earn and save a lot of money.

[/quote ,rob ive seen our tramper pay slip with £ 700 take home, but it wasnt for 60 hrs, it was 80+ hrs,6 days, he admitted it was a one off ,he cant get the hours in to do it regular, the previous lad doing that job left because he couldnt make it pay :exclamation: :exclamation: ,this bloke whos quoting these figures wants to post it up how its possible, i dont think it is.
but if it is possible i want one,i do sat,sun every week ,6 days every other week ,as many hours as i can, odd night out and my last pay slips[or comp shows]
1.£580 take home
2.£357 take home
i can do 80 hrs one week, 40 the next,15 hrs on a sunday,6 hrs the next,i just hope drivers arnt nieve enough to believe there going to be taking home £700 p.w,because i believe a lot will be disappointed
