Why has this come up now of all times, whilst another media bigshot is otherwise up for taking all the heat?
I smell media manipulation here, as I did and still do over the Strauss-Khan affair. 
The fact that his co-defendant has not been named stinks to high heaven before we even get started here! It all smacks of “Let’s bring down a patsy media boss, because the country is demanding the scalp of one, and the most high lord Murdoch doesn’t want either himself, or the soon-to-be-tried Brookes going down for anything at all!”
Remember the accused is innocent until proven guilty - think anything else, and you’re unfit to be a juror!

I think you’ve got that ever so slightly wrong. He’s been charged with a very serious offence by the police, not the newspaper?
