What happened to all these lines of spmt’s, did A.L.E. take them on or get packed up and sent to the oil fields of Arabia?
Found these photo’s of them in action, were they rarely used or was there a large demand for them?

Its pictures like that first one that make me want to be a mechanical engineer, the scale of the thing is mind boggling

As far as I know they all went to ALE.
And yes they were used a lot, most of the driving I did for Econofreight was moving them from job to job. Impressive machines, watching them move a 10,000 tonne peice was amazing.
