When the TS was launched, I recall the article in Truck mag stating that the first model was a 4x main/3x splits per gear layout, and that there would be further permutations to come, e.g., a 4x main/4x splits per gear. However I never came across (either in person or in print) any other type of TS other than the 3 + 4 type…
On a separate note when the first TS-equipped ERF E series arrived at their yard (it was an early one on a ‘C’ reg), it caused some head scratching - up till then all their B & C series’ were 9-speeders. In time-honoured tradition, there was no training or handover for the lucky recipient, but within half an hour and a few spurts around the yard, the collective nous of the (mainly ‘old school’ drivers) had pretty much nailed it!
Noo chance , why should we miss all the fun!! I’ve driven the eaton twin splitter & can’t wait to drive it again, especially through small hilly windey villages
Punchy Dan:
0123try this taffy ,here s mine ,the eaton twin splitter is a 12 speed and 12 only .
Showing off Dan in that first pic with at least a fiver in loose change!
It’s the change from my dinner I’ll have to give it back to the Mrs !
Think this was the TSO box(twin split with overdrive) eg 4 speeds X 3 Plus overdrive X 3 plus reverse X 3 eg 4 X 3 + 3 X overdrive + 3 X reverse= 18 speeds
(technically 18 speeds)

Perhaps we should start a new tv programme and get truck drivers to do timed laps of a twisty hilly track in an old ERF with a twin split , then a couple / uncouple along with the dreaded blind side reverse onto a bay . Sponsored by Stobbies as they like that sort of thing !!!
We would all watch an take the ■■■■ every week !
With Dipper Dave as the host with the innuendos , The Smoking Chimp as the p##s taking one and Dozy as the I get it wrong host.
What a show.
If you want twin splitter based fun and games put one behind a Gardner with its reluctance to drop revs and see how many laps of that twisty hilly course it takes to rip a set of engine mounts clean out of the chassis.
I prefer the 13spd myself, but it’s a PITA compared to the Ishift in my other lorry.

I’d take the challenge all our D and E reg E series ERFs were Gardner powered and fitted with the magnificent twin splitters
Our fitters even put the twin splitters in half a dozen C series ERFs also Gardner powered

You actually drive a truck with laminate flooring?
Think some people are a bit confused between the Eaton twin split and the Eaton Fuller roadranger. The American trucks shown here have the Roadranger not the twin split! Don’t think I have ever seen an American truck with a twin split.

I know mine is a 13spd Roadranger, so no confusion there. I have asked about the Twin Splitter in the US and Canada and nobody seems to heard of them.
I guess that’s because of the simplicity of the TS, this lot out here would be converting them to twin stick set ups as they don’t like anything that makes the job easier!
I remember an article in TRUCK about the Eaton Twin Snapper, I think that was a 3spd main with 4splits, but nobody I’ve spoken to remembers that either.
Moaster, it’s not a laminate floor, it’s just a bit of lino. It matches the plastic wood trim on the dash and door cards. The theory behind it is that it’s easier to keep clean than the standard rubber/carpet combo underneath it, I got the roll for $50, so it’s cheap and cheerful and does the job, a quick wipe over with a damp cloth and it’s as good as new.
