I’m going to try and sell my car in the next few weeks so anybody got any experience of these 2 methods of advertising as in where am I going to get the best response ? I would like to sell it and get a new one before Crimbo.
Thanks in advance.
Try a site called Preloved, its free on there.
Or gumtree? I wouldn’t bother with auto trader.
I have an eBay shop and u get a load of tyre kickers and silly offers. It all depends on what ur selling really, if its a banger eBay is ur best best cause u can put 99p start with no reserve and see what u get, if its a 50grand merc tho eBay would be no good just before Xmas IMO.

They do come in handy if the car is scrap though, they don’t start it up or crawl underneath it before they pay out ![]()
Beware, with eBay you will have the final selling fee to pay, if it goes for a few hundred it’ll be about £60 at least. I dread to think what it would be if it went for a few thousand. Is it an advert or an auction. I think this may only apply to auctions. They take a certain percentage of the final price. Stick in on the trader instead, good pics and a simple text advert giving all the specifics, tax/mot/service history/MILEAGE etc etc.
I’d say put a link but it would get ripped to shreds ![]()

It’s about 1% selling fee upto a max of £35.00 for an expensive one, anyway it’s looking like I’ve sold it.
Selling-Ebay. Buying-local free mag.
Sold my knackered Vitara for £570 on ebay, bought a newer, tidier Frontera for £370 from local ads. I could sell the Frontera for £1,000 on ebay as it is.
I sold a two year old S_Max through an ebay classified ad.
A well worded ad with loads of pictures and left it to see what happened. Asked £15k (it was low mileage and top spec) bloke from Stoke phoned up and agreed to buy it unseen, transferred deposit straight away and collected a week or so later with funds transferred before he arrived.
I have sold cars through ebay auctions previously with no problems, although my father in law sold a couple recently and both gave him aggro.
