DVLA saying I may have to wait up to 12 week for an outcome

So after everything I’ve been through the DVLA said I had to go and do a Goldmanns field test, the lady who did it said I missed no light dots.
I’ve had a letter today from the DVLA saying it could be waiting up to 12 week for the medical department to come to an outcome if I can drive HGV’S again :unamused: How the ■■■■ can it take so long to sort out when they have my results in front of them on black and white??!
It looks like a phone call to the union and getting a solicitor involved because I feel they are taking the ■■■■ now  Can anyone give me any good advice on what to do?

Have they revoked the LGV already and you are trying to get it back or have you informed them of an issue and are now awaiting the outcome of that issue ?

A chap I worked with had a similar thing , he had an op on his eye, given the all clear by the surgeon etc. had his medical and because of the op they wanted further questions answered.
Letter from surgeon, GP, His optician, wasn’t not god enough then he had to have a test by an independent company prescribed by DVLA that took another 2 weeks to get in on the appointment then it took a further 3 weeks to get his licence back…

I would carry on with what your doing , get a name and get on to your MP sending copies to DfT etc then go sign on the club and claim for everything you can

Write to your traffic commisssioner.
LGV vocational licences are their domane. They don’t like other government departments or even judges ■■■■■■■ in their back yard.
Writing to them with your concerns shows them that you repect their authority, and they love it.

If they get back in touch and say it’s down to DVLA to sort out, i’d be very suprised.

ROG:
Have they revoked the LGV already and you are trying to get it back or have you informed them of an issue and are now awaiting the outcome of that issue ?

I’ve had it revoked ROG because of me having detached retina and retinal tears which I’ve had the operations on to sort it out. They requested me to go and have an Estermans field test at Barnsley hospital which they said I failed. I decided to have one done at the Hallamshire hospital where I had the operations before they discharged me and I missed one dot out of 120.

I sent the results off to the DVLA with a letter from my consultant saying my eyes were now fine and that he supported me in my appeal. The DVLA then asked me to go to Rotherham hospital to do a Goldmanns field test which I had done 2 weeks ago. The lady that did the test said I didn’t miss any dots but I did press the button when I thought I saw some light dots when actually there wasn’t any. She said this goes against you but the DVLA allow you 10% (I did read on the internet that the DVLA allow you 20%)

Everytime I’ve been waiting for the DVLA to get back to me it has been up to 6 week, however now they are saying up to 12 week which I don’t understand (why is it taking up to twice as long for them to get back to me?) Also I did read on the internet that the DVLA should not request you to go for a field test until at least 3 month after you have had laser treatment on your eyes as they are still adjusting to the treatment (the DVLA sent me for my first field test 2 month after my last op) so I am thinking now that I could have failed the test due to my eyes not fully recovering from the treatment.

I don’t have to wear glasses to drive, I pass the snellen chart eyetest and both the opticians and my consultant have said there is nothing wrong with my eyesight and it wont get worse overtime.

Its all in the wording…" UP TO 12 weeks"
Might be quicker than that but they say 12 weeks to cover their arses if things are going slow!

Have you been in touch with anyone regarding this? Well apart from the DVLA.
It has been going on for a while now, at the end of the day the DVLA are just administrators, you really should have been in touch with some one else before now! like your local traffic area office, your MP, infact anyone whos job it is to listen!
There isn’t much point telling us what the DVLA are or aren’t doing to speed this up, you need to tell the people that can help you.
Your local MP has a lot of clout when it comes to incompetence in government departments. they don’t mess about with the people we have to deal with, they go straight to the head man in that department and get them to deal with it direct, and believe me, these department heads do not like letters from MPs because of staff incompetence!
The last time I had a problem with a government department I involved my local MP, it didn’t take long for the head man to contact me to get it sorted as quickly as possible, which was within days, and a small compensation payment for my inconvienience!
Please don’t come back in 12 weeks saying they are wanting you to jump through more hoops if you haven’t spoken to either of the above mentioned first.
I hope you get this mess sorted as soon as, but no one on here can help you to deal with the DVLA, take all the evidence you have to your local MP in the morning!!

Hi. I have just won a case against the D.V.L.A as they kept me messing about like you for exactly 6 months. I put a claim in for £5.5 k I have won the case with the Independent Complaints Comissioner now Im just waiting for D.V.L.A to pay up. YOU MUST COMPLAIN THROUGH THE RIGHT PROCEDURE OR YOU WILL NOT GET ANYWHERE…By law they are entitled 56days to return your licence then and only then you can claim loss of earnings. Step 1. Complain to the D.V.L.A Customer Services, if no joy Then send a copy of all the documentation to The Independent Complaints Assessor.
