DVLA removing HGV entitlements by mistake

if you can produce your original pass certificates then surely they would have to put them back on your licence ■■?

Don’t you send that in together with your provisional license to get the full entitlement added?

not if the examiner does it for you, you only give him the provisional and you keep the pass certs.

i’ve got to send mine back to have spent points removed. what am i better doing, reporting it lost and applying for a replacement, so i can have the original in case the entitlement gets removed on the replacement…?

They never have a problem with issuing fines tho.

A friend an Lgv driver passed at the age of 21 , 23 years later before his 1st medical he got a speeding fine from a camera they found his details.

They find your details when it suits them .

When i had to do my 1st medical lst year i still had the paper licence but as i knew of this problem i never sent it in just filled the form for a lost licence i had no problem’s.

If they had replied saying they had no record i would have drove to swansea with the original in hand, As someone already stated they do not like photo copies.

I have even had a learner turn up for a course … i havs asked to check his licence and the DVLA had given him a full c+e entitlement instead of a provisional.

What would you do tell him to inform DVLA

or

Would you just say nothing ?

I know what i did …

My advice is always copy anything sent to DVLA where I work we interact with Swansea all the time and they are forever loosing paperwork or claiming they never had it even though we can prove it was mailed to them.

You can now renew your licene on line. so you get to keep hold of the old licence until the new one comes through. This is really handy to avoid the mistakes that the DVLA OFTEN make.

When my son passed his car test many years ago he was very happy and drove about most nights (as they do!) and often got pulled by the police for a paperwork check (as they do)
this went on for around three years until one shasrp eyed ccopper noticed his licence was for a MOTORBIKE and not a car.
Luckily I had kept a copy of his pass certificate and the matter was quicly resolved. But neither myself or my son or at least two dozen traffic police had noticed it before. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Now I double check everything.
