DVLA on the ball for once

Sent for for my first digi tacho card last week and was told to expect a 15 day wait. I was expecting them to take every last day of that, but low and behold it turned up today.
Now just need to swot up on how to use the thing, paper ones seems so much easier.

My boss who has been in the trade a long time has already said he’ll refuse to use it and says he just retire instead of learning how to do it

Grumpy ol’ git.

digi is really less hassle , no bits of paper to carry or worry about marking etc…

Its more getting into the habit, sure after a week or so it becomes second nature, but for the boss, the thought of having to do a minutes more work than he is used to is enough for him to throw the towel in.

He’s being “going to retire soon” since I started 14 years ago, so I’m sure he will get over it… Or he will just never drive my truck and stick with his analogue tacho.

it’ll be less time for him as all he needs do is have a cars reader within easy access for the drivers …leave the tacho program running then all the driver has to do is, put card in, wait for light to stop flashing, remove card. saves boss from lifting a finger

These days, 65 year olds are “going to retire soon” - and they’ll still be there aged 79 fourteen years from now…

If you ain’t got a good pension - you can’t really afford to retire with annuity rates at all time lows right now, and for the past 6 years…

Boss still drives so its not quite so easy for him as that, we are only a small firm, so its all hands on deck.

In nearly 30 years of dealings with the DVLA
I don’t think Iv’e ever had anything go wrong
or even too long a wait for anything.

So it’s a, Keep up the good work from me.

Just to add the fact that even though car tax is going online
you are still only getting full months refunded.

May see my good humour towards them disappear

God i hope you’re all right about the dvla!
I’ve been off for a few months due to some head injuries and lost both my car and truck licences :frowning:
Finally on Wednesday i got the all clear from the nuero consultant which was great news :grimacing:
I phoned dvla as soon as i got home, and spoke to a pretty bored young lady who seemed very uninterested in how keen i am to get my licences back asap. Turns out they had all the wrong details for the consultant, so i soon got her to put that right. When i asked her on a timescale, she wouldn’t give me an answer so i will be back on the phone Monday to see if i can get any better info.
I know it can’t happen overnight, but i’d like it to be done in a 2-3 week timescale hopefully. We’ll see?
