DVA glitch with DQC :(

Just finished a really frustrating one hour phone call with DVA here in Northern Ireland. I passed all modules for the initial driver CPC over five weeks ago, and my DQC has yet to arrive. I have enquired three times since passing about when I can expect to receive it and was told it will be issued automatically, so be patient.

After being told to call three different people today, I discover that it hasn’t been issued or printed due to a “technical glitch” and they are investigating the cause. No apologies, no offer to get it rushed through, no sympathy for me having to turn down work and a fairly typical apathetic civil service attitude. I wonder how they would feel if I showed the same indifference about paying their exorbitant test fees?

My advice; if you’re waiting for more than four weeks for your DQC then keep enquiring until you get a proper answer from a competent person. All things considered, I’m totally enraged that this level of service and lack of care can happen in the civil service in 2015. Perhaps when these people are made redundant and are in the dole queue they will regret their “computer says no” attitude.

Has anyone else had trouble receiving their DQC?

You are the first to have this issue that I am aware of

I’m sure I won’t be the last

As I understand it, the cards are printed by DVLA in Swansea for DVA in Northern Ireland. Apparently they have an IT system to automate the process. I have a suspicion that someone was complacent at some stage and didn’t update the records, but they probably don’t want to admit something like that.

Not yet but just booking my Cpc mod 2 has been a total farce and pain in the Rse! Lost count of the amount of calls I’ve had to make cos you can’t book it on line anymore. Was promised a call back today…, hmmm!

You are legal to drive whilst you wait for the card… So really it’s not a problem.

I thought there was a time limit of 21 days ? - or did they change that ?

Never been aware of a time limit.

I thought the grace period of no card was only for the start date. After that,no card no drive.

Reading the OP, my understanding was that this was the initial, and so the first, driver cpc card. That being the case, no problem.

I was told to expect a call this morning with an update on what is being done to sort the situation out. It didn’t happen and guess what - the guy is on a half day.
