Yea get em up , I used to run out of the Crick depot when Montgomery’s took it over , was offered a start with Dukes but after talking to a few of the lads decided to hang on to my licence and decline the kind offer , some of the stories I heard were unreal but I took a lot of them with a ’ pinch of salt ’

Jessica’s Dad you rite less wittering and more photos’s

Here you go lads

Montgomery’s pulling a dukes trailer-Can anyone tell me why the trailers on such an angle.■■

Taken about 10 mins away from the crick depot. Cant remember the service station name

Same services as above

Corley services-Crick depot wagon

Portadown depot wagon

Heysham depot wagon-Where is Heysham. Is it another uk depot they had back in the day

All i have at the moment but i do have some more in an album of some Mercedes SK’S. WIill get them scanned in asap

All the best

James

thats excellent pictures, i think heysham is up near liverpool. bring on the sk’s.

I think the reason that the trailer is at an angle is because it looks like a mega trailer but the unit has a standard height 5th wheel.

They still going or gone bust now?

Dukes transport went years ago

Was it around 2000 they went as they had some W reg units.?

Montgomerys acquired some of there kit and contracts i think.

Not so sure

Hi thanks mate

Also have you noticed a company called ford cars ltd who transport the car parts for Ford

All there trailers are like this

mega trailers (on small wheels) when couple to a low height unit would run in europe at 4meters and also woudnt be at a angle. They just a pain in the UK on standard units! Heysham is near Morecombe and the services is Watford Gap on the M1

Is it only certain mega trailers that have the trailer hight adjustability, not them all?

For example Ewals Cargo care mega’s can be risen depending on application.

Was it the 25 tonne of plate steel over the rear bogie?

Some of these dual height trailers had 2 sets of air couplings, Palm and C Type and it would run the trailer at the correct height, I cannot see how the suspension can compensate properly when running like that, I have seen them with the front axle skipping the tarmac.

dukes wer the kings! the chickens down to PDL then to the caravan at stone or the barracks at crick! ruff as hell but top boys… there depot at heysham was in the docks. does anyone remember the 2 boys from crick who had the toplines that took the chickens out 2 france? think one went to noel zwecker wen dukes finished… great days

think johnny ramsey was the driver who left dukes for noel zwecker and as for the monty link with dukes mr harold i must take over 2 companies a year montgomery bought them over when they were in their sticky patch to get into fridges and groupage distribution side of things. dukes were a big outfit back in their time

A mickey mouse outfit ffs. Shortest job I ever had 6hrs or so. Couldnt wait to get away, so glad they went ■■■■ up
