evening all going to the above on monday had a look on google looks like some narrow roads anyone no the best route in ? cheers
Hi someone local may be advise better but street view the location in the screenshot. It has a truck sign for grain harvesters, old colliery, wingham. Is this the place. Another black sign guided you in from the a257 and high street junction.
Thanks mate looks like the the 257 is the best route in i was looking at going via the b2046 but it looks tight going that wayallrhow i cant find the sign your talking about
I have taken an artic through Wingham many times, although I have not been to Duffiled or Grain Harvesters for a very long time indeed. The picture shows just how narrow the B2406 is in Wingham at this junction and how close to the road the houses are (notice the marker board on the wall of the house!), it is very difficult to pass others at this point. I would avoid Canterbury and the A257 and stay on the A2. Take the B2406 exit for Aylesham and Wingham just after a high level steel footbridge,

follow it almost to the end ie 400 yards which is from where the picture is taken. The B2406 needs treating with respect - it looks a lot wider than it is and there are some lunatic lorry drivers using it flat out. There is a snack van in the layby at the A2 end. From the position of the sign it looks like a right turn is easier, but if you don’t like it you could go straight ahead at the end into Wingham and carry on along the A257 to the roundabout at the jct with the A256 outside Sandwich for a Uey.
Yes go from the A2, no problem whatsoever that way and no need to go through Canterbury traffic.
Thanks lads im going to duffields the old colliery wingham , judging by the tire marks at that junction there used to trucks
is that the grian store n mill if so don,t go right in to wingham take turn before if coming from a2 go down there 400 yards turn left quiet sharp down to end turn right half mile tops second entrance on left ,i tip at farm just before their thats the way he says is best as its narrow in wingham to turn right chance of hitting house with trailer
Take the B2046 off the A2 to Wingham. Turn right onto Staple rd, plenty of room. Duffields comes up on the left after a mile or so. Don’t come out the same way though, turn right out of Duffields back towards Wingham. Take 1st left, can see tyre marks on floor as its a tight turn doubling back on yourself. Follow to the end and turn right, it’s bloody tight turn mind. Follow that to the end and you’re back to the B2046. Don’t go back into Wingham as you cant turn left back onto the B2046.
Cheers all much appreciated dont fancy getting stuck in a fuel tanker
Double post

I worked at Duffields for 2 years and this is spot on.
Duffields run 3 artics and a wagon and drag as well as several rigids. Grain Harvesters (now Frontier) have artics in and out all day, follow the above and you’ll have no bother.
While trying to refresh my memory as to where Wingham Engineering live I had a trawl through Google Earth and I found these views:
As Andrewv8 said what follows is the way out again!
On the way in however about 100/ 200 yards after turning into Staple rd there is a 6’6’ width ahead warning sign - you will not be going that far; only as far as this:

This shows how narrow the 2406 is just as you come into Wingham. This is the turn you won’t make coming OUT, but will make going IN. (see my previous)

This is the sharp left turn into Goodnestone rd (with tyre marks on the way out

This is the sharp right with tyre marks into Crockshard lane

This is where you come out again onto the B2046 to turn left for the A2. Do not go in this way because you may meet a wagon coming the other way out from the old colliery.

Exactly. The route detailed by Andrewv8 is the agreed one way system for all goods vehicles visiting the site and there are plenty of them.

I used to cycle down that road past Wingham Engineering and up to Duffields every day. I miss living out in the sticks
This is one of my pet hates living as I do near to a farm packhouse. Companies have a known number of suppliers and also place orders with others as well, yet somehow the message never gets through to delivery drivers that there is a set route in and sometimes another one out, along with instructions NOT to use certain roads as well. grrrr
Again thxs lads trucknet yet again proves to be worth being part of
Cheers lads your information was spot on
