Wheel Nut:
…they normally ride fast race bikes, better than we do and they certainly look better in tight leather than us 40 something blokes
could that be because they don’t have to worry about certain soft and painfull dangly bits getting squashed against the tank in the event of it going wrong?
hi all and thanks for all your replies.
Yes Rogue, it was me at simonswood, your instructor must have been in the portacabin when we got back from test, by then the examiner had already failed me but not realised that the cones had been set out for an 8 metre vehicle thus giving me 3 metres less to reverse around the B cone when we were in a 9.5 vehicle. DSA had given the test centre the wrong dimensions. the following day there would have been two other tests with the wrong distance between the cones. but for my instuctor noticing the error. anyway still awaiting the outcome, would love to know what was said in that portacabin! Looking foreward to more replies.
Yep, well there was a lot of words exchanged so ive been told, the fact that he knew it ws the wrong length when your instructor told him, and asked him could you do the reversing excersise once more, cos you had never had a problem with it before, but that examiner, YOU know who i mean, was adamant that he wasnt going to let you do the reversing excercise again, even though HE knew your wagon was the wrong size for the cones, and dont worry about the resit , its all but yours now, what i heard was they phoned the DSA and they agreed, they should have checked the paperwork before setting out the cones, so good luck with your resit…and have a nice drive

Years ago, when I was taking my car test, a dog ran out into the road & hit the wheel of the car. I knew that I had to stop, but wasnt quite sure what to do, (as I was expecting the examiner to say sumat but he didnt) So I carried on.He failed me for not stopping . My instructor appealed & I got a free re test, so see, it does happen!
As for worrying about it being a male dominated job…DONT GO THERE!!! If you go in with that attitude, you will just become a laughing stock & no one willl want to know you, & believe me, you will need to spend the next couple of months picking everyones brains about the job. Never ever knock back any help or advice that people give you!
It has been said previously on this thread, the driving test just shows you how to do certain manoevures parrot fashion, it is nothing like that out in the big bad world!
Love,
T.■■
ROGUE = Les,lol MR MIO is Stevie Bax,lol, Jays buzzing about passing, he had your instructor too Marie, anyways good luck for tomorrow Ste, fingers crossed, good luck marie aswell with your test

I took my class 2 test again at Simonswood and passed!! Absolutely over the moon, was even thinking about giving it a miss but am SO glad I tried again. If at first you dont succeed… and look what happened. I am so relieved! Will start looking for my new job next week though will probably have to wait to get my licence back first. A big change from my current job as a housekeeper!A big thankyou for all the interest and all the replies to all of you! and to those of you thinking of giving up trying…DON’T…Watch this space!
Wheel Nut:
On the other hand, the cone is there to reverse between, not over. It is no good knocking a gatepost down and then trying to tell the manager it was in the wrong place when out on the road
But out on the road, you’re not prevented from getting out for a look or taking a shunt. The reversing exercise would be significantly easier if you could GOAL.
