Drunken Stobart driver reverses half a mile on M6 Toll

Tossitoff they’ll need to use foreigners because a large proportion of Brits won’t work for them simply because of their reputation. Money is also a factor, yeah you might walk out with a high wage at the end of the week but you’re doing daft hours to get that wage. Look at the asda thread to see the difference in wages and hours worked it’s incredible.

Really Stobarts has lost its magic, years ago you wouldnt see one single truck with any damage and usually always looking clean and tidy. Very professional image. You really can’t say that now. They have put profit before their core beliefs. Stories are coming out about drivers running bent, company having utter disregard for DVSA. Turning into cowboys. That kinda swing in a company attitude comes from the top.

Woosh… :grimacing:

If police check to many trampers at the morning that will be to many surprised situation.

If police check to mum trailers at the morning that will be to many surprised situation.

Couldn’t agree more fella :open_mouth:

Apparently one of their flip flop drivers from Eastern Europe, the ones I’ve encountered seem a bit brain dead when sober, like the ■■■ who decided to park up for his break across the entrance to Corley N/B truck park around 2:30 this morning!

Why they insist on using so many flip flops I (as an ESL driver) don’t know, they are doing a great job of trashing both the fleet and name (if it could get worse!) of ESL, in my experience the vast vast majority of ESL drivers are just like the rest of us, professionals doing a job to pay the bills and put food on the table.

I was in P&G Thurrock last night and sat for literally 10minutes whilst one of “our” flip flops tried and tried and tried to back into a bay that had empty spaces on both sides, I dread to think how he’d have got on had it been a tighter spot.

Like Brits are the best drivers and can park perfectly, give me a brake. Many of you cant even pass a stupid exam in manual truck…
Don’t judge for all drivers by few bad apples.

Stobarts are judged by the same bad apple philosophy though aren’t they?

Just saying what I see, the vast majority of flip flops I see seem unable to drive, we’ve got a few at my depot (Stoke,M6 J15) who are first rate, alas very much the minority though.

The guy is right you know.

The Novelis contract is now run from the Czech Republic as quality drivers are obviously hard to find(well they are at the money they offer). Now got Bulgarians too, so obviously the Czechs are too expensive for our premier road haulier.

Agreed. I remember when Stobarts being the company that kids wanted to work for once they grew up. Old Steady Eddy is would be spinning in his grave if he saw what his company has become.

I think an extended reversing course is needed as well

Then maybe it should be a requirement to add these to trucks…Measures the driver’s breath alcohol concentration and prevents the vehicle from starting if the driver is over a predetermined limit… then we would have this sort of thing happening…Well done to Renault Trucks, but Id like to see it as standard equipment and not an optional extra :grimacing:

I believe Volvo also do something similar.

I think all truck manufacturers have these AS AN OPTION. They should be mandatory.

While I agree that they should be mandatory, the likelihood of you getting them implemented and fitted to every wagon is slim. Unless there is a sweeping new law like there was with the tacho unit then these are always going to be an optional extra.

Gruber have these fitted to their motors.

Can’t see this getting in my way when pulling off after being on a good bender. I’d simply ask a fellow driver who looks less worse for wear to blow in me pipe. Form a queue guys.

Blow a big balloon up the night before then just use that  works every time
