At the big companies, I’ve attended it’s been a bloke from the transport office who does his one day course. I’m also not convinced a nurse has any special training to administer drug testing.
If you are pulled over on the way home and blow over - the police will arrest you on suspicion of DD. They will then take you to a cop shop and use either a fully calibrated machine (or a blood test). How many companies do you know who have a room with a fully callibrated machine??
You know those drug tests they do at supermarkets - I could give you some cough/cold medicine and get them to show up as Heroin. They are for indication only. As a side point there is also loads of drugs you could use (which will make you very dangerous) and yet still pass them.
We are talking about a transport manager getting above his station and taking peoples cars away here. If that happened to me I’d be calling 999 - both to report a theft and also so I could be properly tested and not have my reputation defamed. However I don’t get high or drunk and then drive anything.
I know a firm who have just started this testing,let’s just say if they test many of there staff they will bring up positive results…
But the manegment know which ones will prove positive so won’t test them,
one driver would literally smell like a brewery on a Monday and he was let out every week

Sorry mate. But I’m drug free. And am massively anti drugs - was a minor addict after getting giving loads of drugs by doctors after being badly burnt in an explosion.If Beth (oh no I’ve given her name) makes a mistake or something goes wrong in surgery, rather than drug testing her, she is offered a hug by her colleagues. And you know what… I don’t know a single one of her colleagues who would accept being told to urinate to prove they could do their job.
Let’s raise the bar and expect better. Let behave better and be better, but let’s not blindly accept junk.
AFAIU the prevalence of alcohol abuse in doctors is no less, possibly higher, than in the general population. Picking it up earlier by testing might do everyone, including themselves, a favour.
Drug abuse among medical people is not unknown. There are documented cases.
It took a big campaign to force doctors to disinfect their hands between examining patients. There were signs in the last hospital I was in encouraging you to challenge medical staff if they did not do this. I would do so but most would not.
Doctors are protected by a very strong professional organisation, aka union, that is very reluctant to allow any interference or control of their professional activities and appears to fight very hard to defend what often looks like the indefensible.
So yes, maybe they should be tested.

More crap from God, drug test are taken by any manager who might have been first aid trained, Some company’s might have a Nurse or medical professional on site, and getting a positive test easily done if you are taking Codeine, or co-codimal, as both contain opiates. Company’s use a generic tester that has a broad spectrum, unlike police/ customs which will show which drug is detected.
Forget the weed habit while out in the truck, stick the with masterbation while off duty like everyone else
Maybe I am a bit of a puritan as I wouldn’t drive if I had anything to drink , I have had the office trying to get me to do emergency work by saying you’ve only had a couple you’ll be ok. I didn’t drink at all if I was driving the following day .
As for weed , I tried it several times in the past and all it seemed to do was make me throw up .
I had a spell of having to have morphine injections which if tested when driving would have resulted in fails and loss of licence so I had to not drive for several days after each episode.

When I worked for a Dutch tanker operator they did random testing, if the test was negative, they gave us some! [emoji12]

Or some wannabe copper in a ill fitting Security uniform with ideas above his station…like the one who very officiouslly, (and for no reason other than to demonstrate his self imposed importance 
) informed me he had the right to breathylize me on site, before I advised him if he came anywhere near me with it, it would be hanging out of his arse, and if he thought I had been drinking (I had not btw) to call the Old Bill which I had no probs with.
It escalated until one of the bosses came down to see me, and we sorted it…only because I had an urgent load on I think, and also after him agreeing with me the security guy was a complete dill.

Haven’t had a joint for donkeys years. Had to stop because of the weight I was gaining on account of all the crisps, biscuits,mars bars and everything else I was eating.

Yes best to do when off duty and not when driving down the M6.
Some companies will test you before you start work for them. Some others can do random checks.
I used to smoke weed occasionally. When I worked in a warehouse I didn’t care about job or drug tests. This is a type of job you can always change. However, when I started driving I have stopped smoking. Because I realized how many idiots is on the road every day. Lets say you are the best driver in the world. If you will be involved in road traffic accident (especially serious or fatal) be sure that VOSA will test you. Doesn’t matter who’s fault was that.
My friend has had an accident. He was doing 30 mph on single carriageway, when a vehicle traveling from the opposite direction cause a head on collision. Driver was dead, Passenger took to hospital in an air ambulance (bad condition). My mate did not do anything wrong but he has been drug tested anyway. Cocaine, cannabis and something more. Fortunately he was totally clear as he always is. But if anything would be wrong he would get arrested. Probably just for a day or two, but DD code in his driving licence would last for like 10 years?! You don’t need to be stoned to get arrested for drug driving as marijuana last in your body up to 90 days sometimes.

Which is the maximum recommended dose I think ? And yet there are stories of people failing with the non-prescription stuff ?
Is it not the polices job to police this type of behaviour?
Old mavis in a nurses costume bought off amazon asking you to blow into a breath test machine bought off ebay reporting to a bloke that earns his money by making up this crap ffs
Ask them to get the police in to test you or just resign.

They just see how far people are prepared to let them go, and increase the severity of the ■■■■ takes that little bit more every time.
This,.as well.as all the rest of the crap in this job should have been nipped in the bud from day 1, by everybody just saying… ‘‘NO’’.
Thing with drug testing is they look for chemical traces that stay in the body long after any impairment occours and weed is one of the worst I believe it can be traced a number of weeks later.
It’s like getting drunk tonight and failing a breathalyser next Tuesday although I guess the argument would be drugs are illegal having a few chinzanos aint
all depends what work the company u work for if u go to crossrail sites they do spot checks and will not let u on site at all.firm i work for do ramdom tests on drivers even for drink to.one lad got caught when a lump of weed dropped from his wallet when he got to site was rejected straight away and was suspended then lost his job in end.at end of day is it really worth it
