Dropped a clanger

Dropped a clanger and left my tacho disc in, without changing it. So now its done a double trace, what to do?
I know im a plonker  but no ones perfect especially me

Take it out, write “whoops” on the back and keep it for 28 days.

If you keep it and be honest if asked then it’s a mistake (we all make them) try to hide or destroy it and you’ll get in more trouble.

Thanks for the reply, like you say honesty is the best policy.

Just don’t go anywhere the A75 did the same thing a few years back cost me £200 for about 5 mins of double trace the copper was that excited thought he had just found Lord Lucan rather than a minor infringement due to a ferry being late in

^^^^^ This but aswell as “whoops” just put a quick explanation - you wont be the first or the last (says the man who left a digi card on other work overnight last month)

The whoops was slightly tongue in cheek, a quick explination and a signature should keep most checks happy unless you get the VOSA bid who didn’t get ■■■ before he left for work.

Or Her

If’ you’re driving a W reg or older, the tacho can neaty seperate into two concentric circles on removal, the wrap around trace having nicely scored it through!

Slip it under the bunk and just say you were on holiday so your boss drove the truck that day.

I did too once. He was a proper gobby little ■■■■■

And don’t even get me started on that bleedin soup dragon! :imp:

Surely if you just do a manual trace on the back with an explanation they can’t do you for it … unless you’ve got loads of tachos with the same ‘error’.

Even though the work/rest/drive/poa trace is overwritten (if you’ve left it on other work) the speed trace is not overwritten and will still show how long you’ve been driving and how long you’ve been stopped. Sounds like you got stopped by an absolute zb of a copper if you got a fine for that.

You have obviously never been stopped by the police on the A75 when the copper opens your door asks your name and then replies with “excellent an Englishman in an Irish lorry christmas has come early” then you have a fair indication that you going to leave his company several pounds lighter regardless of how good or bad your cards are

if it were me i wud write an explanation on the back and manualy fill in 2 cards on the back for the two days you double used and hope thats good enough if you get stoped by vosa .as one person sed on here dont hide them or destroy them as you will get dun more than if you just own up .its not a hanging offence just make sure your truck is ok lights etc and you shud be ok if passing a vosa check point as the only time i have had a pull by vosa is i had a front side light out night time obviously .
