You can drive for nine hours between daily rest periods this can be extended to 10 hours twice a week.
If you drive for 3.5 hours and have a 45 minute break you don’t lose the 1 hour you can still accumulate 9 hours driving during the day but it will mean an extra 45 minute break having to be taken to do that 9th hour of driving.

If you leave your tachograph on break for more than 45 minutes it will reset the driving time as you know but you don’t lose any driving time in the day you can still do 9 hours between daily rest periods and 10 twice a week

Hope this helps

Yes of course. You have a maximum of either 9 or 10 hours driving available to you between daily rest periods and taking a break doesn’t alter that total.

Nothing happens. As the break was more than 45 minutes you have another 4.5 hours driving available before you require another break for the tacho regulations, and you still have either 7 or 8 hours driving available for the shift depending whether you have an extended driving day left for the week or not.
