Kin ell, why don’t you just press the buttons and find out what they do? you’re driving a lorry not a Boeing 747 with a dash full of buttons. Christ

Ok it’s been a while since I have drove an artic .There is a couple of things I forget .I remember there is a button in the cab you press when driving with a heavy load .What is this called also one to help brake as well ?
Is this a wind up ? should people like this really be driving ?

I’m in two minds really. If it is a wind up,it’s a very bad one.If it isn’t…well,I think the OP should get on a refresher driving course ASAP.God only knows what else he/she may have ‘forgotten’.

One I am looking for is the one to help slow down when braking ?
Other I think is when you have a load on to give more power ?You mean the brake pedal and accelerator pedal
I’m sure when your fully loaded there is a button you press to help slow down and a we orange light comes on .
Think this could be the other one .

The lift axle doesn’t help you slow down
The only full load anyone should worry about is being 43,980kg on the scales, and then deciding you’ve got to get back in the cab, having just got your paperwork from the gatehouse.

But it is an extra axle on the road with a set of brakes on it so effectively it does help slow.

Exactly. Even Frankie Dettori is gonna put it overweight.

The button you’re probably on about could be to lower the mid lift axle on the unit usually marked with 2 wheels and an arrow but does vary. The brake button you’re probably on about is now a lever usually to the right of the steering wheel but that could vary its called the engine brake and could have several settings.HTH.
Is the engine brake also know an the exhaust brake mate drivertrainingtoday.co.uk/vi … p?id=27560
Mmmmm, see other thread “first week tramping”.
Keep this to yourself, but there is a go faster button, not many people know this, but if you push the heated mirror button and hold it for 30secs it gives extra power.
This is true, I heard it off a driver in Tesco Welham Green, he knew what he was talking about, he’d done the middle east when he came out of the SAS and he had to back off the HOFE as he had a 13 metre trailer and there was only room for a 40 footer.
MMTM the Herald of Free Enterprise skipper had a magnet under the hull and no tacho fitted running bent as a five bob note.
My mate was second to the right on the “balcony” and knows what colour the boat house doors are in Hereford.
As an ex owner driver on Middle East runs he had to navigate by counting the empty oil drums in his day cab Volvo FL I0 with no bunk in it.Only a proper driver would sleep under the trailer he said.
