Driving whilst waiting for a DQC card

Hi all,
I’m new to the forum so bare with me.
Can anyone please answer this for me, I have just completed my 35hr periodic for mt 1st card (acquired rights) and I’m waiting for my card to come through, I have just today started a new job driving a 7.5t but because my card hasn’t arrived yet my boss is unsure if I’m legally allowed to drive it, now I’ve looked into this as well as he has but we both find conflicting answers saying no I can’t and yes it’s ok to drive■■?! Please help.

Yes you can IF you have applied for it. From the Ministry website…

Waiting for your card

You can drive professionally if you’ve passed all the tests and you’re waiting for your Driver CPC card to arrive.

If it doesn’t arrive

Call DVSA if it doesn’t arrive within 20 days.

You supposed to…

Be able to produce your card if asked.

Other than one company I drive for who ask for it every day and then do a complete DVLA licence check every day, no one has ever asked to see it.

Not sure anyone (other than the DVSA) has a legal right to ask you to produce it on a site. It’s a bit like asking to see the contents of someones wallet, to wit, it’s none of their business.

Thanks Wolfie, it’s all been uploaded onto the DVSA website and validated so does the card automatically get sent to me?

Yes it should do, like it says, give it 20 days and then if it hasn’t come, get onto them. It will be sent to the address that is on your driving licence.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback.

You should also be able to check you dcpc hours online, if the card has been issued it’ll show the most recent hours as used/expired

Just don’t get this having to produce on the spot cobblers. Everything is on a database somewhere, so the only issue is one of proving your identity.

…exactly. The day after my test pass, it showed up on the gov site which companies use to check licenses as ‘unclaimed test pass’ as they obviously hadn’t received my certificate yet. Had I been stopped, that would prove all.

I dont see an issue, as you can still drive while applying for a renewal of your licence, providing you are you have no medical conditions that would stop you from obtaining one, ( although you are allowed to retain your existing one and destroy it when the new one comes through ) the qualification card is is on record too, so dvsa or whatever they’re called these days, can get access to your data, so tell your boss its ok.

The updated status to JAUPT should be done the same day as you attend the 35hours of modules, usually 7 hours apiece.

Thus, having finished the last one, and the few days waiting for your blue card to arrive in the post:

JAUPT will register that you’ve DONE your 35 hours, and are sorted until 2024 now.

If you’ve only just done your 5th block of 7 hours to tide you over from September 2018 to September 2019 - you might have a problem later in the year though.

Seriously though - has ANYONE on here - left it that late to complete their 2014-2019 modules? :open_mouth:

I haven’t done any yet… and I have approx 13 drivers in the same position.
