At the moment this countries motorway network is severely zb’d by all the roadworks with the average revenue making cameras and managed sections of motorways again with revenue generating cameras installed, I will avoid these long sections of motorway were possible, i stand a better chance of not getting speeding fines by doing this ,iirc the roadworks at J16 on the M6 has a 40mph speed limit, and there is 3 lanes open, why ffs??
Then you have all the car drivers who cannot maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front ,or travel at the speed limit always below it , HGV’s are delayed further because of these idiots, do they not realise that Lorries and coaches have a calibrated odometer (tachcograph) that is a lot more accurate than the odometer fitted to their cars/vans? which registers typically 5-7mph higher(@50mph ) than what the actual speed is
IMO when no one is working in these roadworks ,then the speed limit should be upto the normal 70mph, so upto the individual to judge what is a safe speed, and the truth behind the introduction of these managed motorways is driven by the potential revenue flow from use of the congestion causing overhead gantry signs, and speed cameras, and not really about improving traffic flow, remove the speed cameras, and i may belive otherwise
Roymondo:
Some of them are actually being quite clever and only slowing as they approach the camera so they can match their speed with a lorry, and use the larger vehicle to hide their numberplate from the camera. Allegedly.
Which sounds OK until there’s not one available at the next one!
