Had a farm in the Chilterns on Thursday. Rang the farmer and he told me the route to take and the only road that led to his farm had a 7.5t limit with no exceptions.
As it turned out the route was fine, with passing places and limited cars, but technically would delivering to this farm require a fleet of 7.5 tonners? And in delivering with an artic does it invalidate insurance etc?

Manningtree/Mistley is surrounded by 7.5 tonne limit with no exceptions, which you have to access to get to the dock/harbour, so obviously they are not enforced.

driving through a 7.5 tonne limit will not invalidate your insurance

Anyhow quite a few of those 7.5t limit without exemption signs have been replaced around here with “except for loading/unloading” ones.
To the OP, if you know of a way in with “except for…” signs you are meant to use that way. If there isn’t then ignore the sign and crack on. Just be on your guard for bridges over culverts etc though.
I used to deliver flour to an old watermill up Leicester way (I know it sounds daft) but they had a 3t weight limit on their only access road. It was because the bridge over the mill race was weak so we had to wait on the road and a forklift would come up and unload us from there.

Used to carry to the Naval Yard at Harwich. Then back load. Access to Mistley wharf threw me as well.
