Driving the wrong way on the motorway

they reckon 2 blokes killed on the M4 on saturday
one vehicle was driving the wrong way down the motorway

and last night a ■■■■■■ up hungarian driver was arrested on the M6 by walsall
for driving the wrong way down the motorway

seems to be on the increase

So easy to do especially at nite when you might be upto full speed before realising. Im not sure how it can be prevented.

WHAT? :exclamation: :exclamation:
perhaps you can explain how do you manage to turn down a slip road the wrong way:!: :exclamation: The Driver on the M6 last night apparently joined at J10a is that the M54?

If your used to driving on other side surely it’s easy once you turn wrong way from a single into dual carriage. All the junctions are designed the same only the signs are wrong way round.
I’m not excusing it but in the dead of nite nothing to look at and your normal left right instinct takes over.
What can’t be explained is the old guy who did a u turn on the m4 tolls and died.

I’d have thought, since motorways look pretty damned similar across Europe if not the world, the headlights coming at you might be a give away?

I nearly turned the wrong way down a dual carriageway once in Bulgaria, stopped at a set of lights with right indicator on, lights turned green and drove 1/2 way across carriageway, looked to right before turning into street and thought “bugga”, drove on and found somewhere to turn around and try again lol.

So I understand what you mean about it being simple to make the initial mistake, it’s the carrying on once the mistake is made that I find difficult - maybe the fact he was bladdered helped?

Yeah but if the first headlights you see belong to the man you kill? Not many people about during the night

On the M6? In the UK? Seriously, I go to work at 0330 and must pass 100+ vehicles in 20 miles between my house and Trafford Park, when I used to night trunk, I found I was less tired on main beam, but not much chance to use it due to other vehicles.

I don’t think, joining the M6 the wrong way from Hilton Park, you’d cover 1/2 a mile without passing a few other vehicles.

According to this link in the other thread, he joined the M6 the wrong way from the services.

So, you see lots of backs of signs, nope, not a clue, then all the arrows are pointing towards you and the speed limits are all upside down on the road, nope, still not enough of a clue, well, what about THIS NO ENTRY SIGN

If that’s not enough hints that you’re going the wrong way… It really is time to attemt to get a job flipping burgers in macadees, although it’s unlikely this driver has enough intellect to complete that task without a few ■■■■-ups.

In this case he’s been arrested for drink driving so maybe that has something to do with it  but it as happened a lot recently
