Driving Test In Hungary

Ive heard from a East European driver working 4 an Irish Haulage company that in Hungary, the driving test system is alot differnet that it is in UK and Ireland… It seems u have 2 do about 100 hours off tution or 150 hours and then u get ur license without having 2 sit a practical driving test!! This could be all aload off crap, but Im just wondering if anyone on this site is able 2 say whether this is True or False 4 definate.

Hello mate,

There are a few different things between UK and Hungary, but as far as I remember I had to spend three monts learn to drive a car + first-aid test + tecnical test before I’ve got the license. The lorry was the same 18 years ago. How do i get a driving license in Hungary? - Answers
Now as UK and Hungary are in the EU, the law and rules are the same especially CPC, so I think we have to pass the same or similar tests in both Countries.

But if you want to go to Hungary, go to Lake Balaton and Budapest, not to have Class 2 or 1.

Agree with Balaton, nubile young ladies and lots of them

I seem to remember an article in one of the magazines about a Hungarocamion driver who had to spend 6 months or so in the workshops and have a lot of driving tuition and school room tuition to become an international driver, they were one of the major companies at the time and even Wabberers are a force to be reckoned with. They seemed very professional at the time, probably on a par with the better Dutch companies. PeKaeS were of a similar status.

Thanks 4 your replies anyhow lads! Ive got a provisonal Irish truck licence and done Class 2 Test here in Ireland in May, but failed it. I suffer badly with nerves and normally am good driver and have been driving cars, tractors, vans, jeeps 4 years and never had any accident, and even drove rigid with not any major problems during lessons, but I just get very worked up on day off test, and hate idea off examiner being beside me and this makes me make stupid errors which fails test!!! Ive heard in other European countries, like Hungray, u do loads off time driving lessons, but no 1 final test decides whether u fail or not, like in UK and Eire. Thats why I asked. If anyone has information on tests in any other EU countries, Id be grateful 2 hear it.

Sorry but if you cannot cope with slight pressure, the driving game is probably not the career to choose as it gets much more stressful after you pass your test.

How is your written and spoken Hungarian anyway?

tipperaryman,

Hungarian test is no different from one in Ireland, only more difficult. 3 months tuition in classroom (in Hungarian), minimum of 20 hours practical tuition, First aiders course (7 hours). Then tests at the end of your course - teoretical (knowledge of road signs etc) and practical - takes from 45min up to 2 hours of driving with inspector. So not sure who told you it’s any different…

Hi tipperaryman,

It seems that you’ve had an answer that might not be quite what you expected. :frowning:

I’m sorry to read of your nerves getting the better of you on test day, and you’re not the only test candidate to suffer that problem.
We have several training providers on this site, so I’m pretty sure they’ll be along with some tips for you.

What I can tell you for sure is that Hungarian is one of the most difficult European languages for a native English speaker to learn.
The other Eastern European languages aren’t far behind in terms of difficulty either!!

Given the time needed to learn a foreign language to the extent you’d need in order to be able to understand tuition and a driving test, I’d suggest that going by a foreign route isn’t really an option if you’d like to get your LGV licence quickly. If you’re really determined to go ‘foreign,’ then you’ll find that French or Spanish are probably the easiest options for learning a foreign language, given that you’re a native speaker of English.

Hi kexas

Thanks for your description of the Hungarian driving test.

TBH mate, I wouldn’t fancy learning Hungarian, simply because it’s so complicated when compared to English and other languages.
Mind you, it should be quite easy, cos I’ve heard small children speaking it.
