I work as an Electrician Mon - Fri 08:00 - 16:15. I am also looking to see if I can get some part time driving at the weekend.
What hours could I legally drive at the weekend ?. I very rarely get the opertunity to work Sat & Sun overtime (08:00 - 16:00) at my normal job. Would this have an effect on driving the following weekend ?. Can I fill in a log book for the weeks that I am not driving in or do I have to fill in Tacho’s for all days.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
You have to follow the standard rules about having a minimum of 9 hours off between shifts and 45 minute breaks, meaning that if you finish your electrician job at 16:15 on Friday then you can either jump in a truck at 17:00 and work until you have reached 15 hours from the start of that shift, namely 23:00, or you can take 9 hours off at the end of your electrician shift and start work from 01:15 Saturday, but you also need to take 45 hours off from doing any work at all, reducible to 24 hours every other week, but with the reduced hours compensated for by the end of the third week following.
Or you could just keep schtum about your day job.

Probably tempting this but, if you were to have an accident (especially a serious one), they will find out about your ‘day job’ 'cos they will pry and prod and enquire and you will be neck high in the ■■■■ without a chance of wriggling out.
Probably best to stay legal but, hey…up to yo!
Yes as long as you don’t have an accident you probably won’t get caught.
