Yesterday,I got a letter telling me I had the honour to renew my driving licience picture,oh that’s nice,I thought ,wasn’t so happy when I saw I had to pay £20 for the bloody thing!,I ain’t changed that much since the last one ,still old, still ugly,so what’s the point, surely only for those who still listen to radio 1 or what ever,or am I alone on this?
Any thoughts, don’t have to be sensible.

I agree you’re still old and ugly
I think some people do change, I was ushered into an office by gun point at Bangkok airport about 13 years ago after a backpacking trip, they didnt believe it was me on my passport photo…to say I bricked myself was an understatement
I updated the passport after that
Yes some folks do look different after a while

When does your LGV entitlement expire - month and year will do?
I ask because you might be in for a nice surprise which saves you £50+ - seriously
Rog my lgv expires 02/15.
Now please save me money

Well, I can save you some …
A few of us including me had to renew our photos this year and its the start of issuing the new EU directive style licences
All of us had our LGV entitlements moved to 5 years from when they issued the new style licence so in my case I renewed photo in Aug 2013 with a LGV expiry date of Dec 2014 and the licence came back with Aug 2018 expiry date
I also ahem ‘lost’ my licence before renewing so I took the reminder from DVLA to a PO which did the photo renewals and for £24.50 had the lot sorted with new licence back in 5 days
I also reckon that doing it that way saved the hassle of paying £5 for a few photos of which I only need one
I bet you get a date of Nov 2018 for your next D4 medical instead of feb 2015 which saves a bit of cash
Sounds good to me,thanks for that,I’ll give it a whirl.
I have my first medical due in 2015, and switched my licence from the old style paper one to the plastic id card type in June this year when i got the ‘call of the road’ again and it has on it 4b (expiry) as June 2018.
Does this mean I dont need a medical till i’m 48 or if something goes ■■■■ up the licence would be invalid due to a computer error and I should still get one at 45 (2015).
I did use an old photo that was on record from a passport renewal but it could do with updating as my hair left home a few years ago.

What is the expiry date at the side of your C on the photocard?
19.06.2018 on the C & also 19.06.18 on the CE, everything else is 2040
Also any one know what a HGV medical involves, is it just the basics or are we talking cupping of the balls and cough with a few fingers up the ringpeice.
Just curious as I don’t want to be unprepared and expect a gentle examination then realise its more akin to one of my nights out in Brighton.

Then its happened to you as it did to me - your D4 medical was 2015 but now its 2018 so you got and extra 3 years before the next D4 saving you some money

Recently did mine, pee in a bottle, eye test on a wall chart and blood pressure check and a few questions that are on the form.
Mine cost £40 and my boss paid me back the money.
Drift:

I have sent a PM to admin for the update - it is listed but the price has gone up from 30 to 40 during the last 3 years
Ahh right cheers, I missed it
This happened to me as well, I phoned up DVLA thinking some one had made a mistake and was told it was due to European legislation. Made me a happy bunny, by the time I need another medical I will have retired.
