Some 3 month ago make delivery to Land Rover and when waiting to unloading talk to one guy who work there. He ask me about driving but after i ask him what people earn at Land Rover. He said about 500 after tax after training.Yes good money but in factory all the time noise, machine working, all the time in helmet. If near you home will be good factory with good money but noise, metal, and more that what you choice-DRIVING OR FACTORY where pay more that drive truck.

See, you can do it if you try.

Oopss. Early begin Tysky already.

Thank you please.

Done factory work. All depends on the person, whether you can handle being inside all day, loads of bodies around and plenty noise. I got fed up with it but not that bad a job as certainly worse out there. A possibility i might go back to it later on down the line when am wanting a part time number. I would defo consider it

Yes. All time in warehouse you see helmet. Also Mrs B like helmet, but only when wash.

£500 ok money for close house, but many km travelling to truck is for head of ■■■■ person. Driving and factory is for people at school who not listen good.

I like the way that the only alcoholic drink you spelled correctly was vodka!!

Anyway, as far as factory work goes, not a chance. Too repetitive, doing the same thing in the same place with the same people every day would be the end of me. I k ow I do trunking and go to one of half a dozen places every night, but there’s still variety. Different road conditions to keep me alert, different shifts working at delivery points. Trucking all the way for me.

No way does Rover bloke get £500 in the bank a week .He must be a right track rat banging in the hours .

Been and done it.Its great for banter and no real stress ,Then it gets you suicidal ,Its like ground hogs day after three years .

So to answer the question ,Driving is better but I’m now considering 3.5 T for a parcel firm as they pay more than some artic drivers get .

Too many bossman watching in factory, no skive off.
Canteen and toiletten miles away in many factory.
Drive off out of sight - out of mind, go somewhere else.
Eat in lorry, open door ■■■■ outside.

Tricky one tbh,if you can land a good number in a factory and earn a decent wage doing 9hr days and clocking off same time every day I’d be up for that tbh.
I’d love to do a permanent 6am-2pm shift…instead of 4am til 6pm

At best 8 hours working in a factory seems like 12-16.That’s how bad time drags. Then you can add to that the soul destroying nature of that if you’d rather be out and about on the road driving.I’d prefer to work a real 12 hours as a driver, which seems like 8 or less, for less money and wouldn’t really want the factory job at any wage. But ‘might’ just think about it if it was a 24 hour 3 day week for £500, working with manual machines, preferably not CNC let alone production line work. :bulb:

No, he’s for real, he used to work for Ramage (North Tyneside) & not even a “false acct” would work for Ramage!

‘head of ■■■■ person’…omfg… :laughing::grimacing:

Rather drop my plums in some boiling water than work in a factory :open_mouth:

Ditto

I did my apprentiship at rolls Royce in Bristol and worked there and at various other engineering firms , I’d say if you want set hours ( my last were 6-14.00 ( 8 hrs ) then it’s the job for you , think it was 37 1/2 hr weeks , o/t you could stop up to 18.00 , o/t sat was 6-12.00 sat , 1 1/2 mon- sat , double sun , far more family friendly , you had a life outside work , but I only ever wanted to drive a lorry , I was going to do it when I left school . Did my work experience at local firm but dad who was a manager at rolls Royce saidvyour not doing a dead end job job as a lorry driver and the rest is history
I’ve got my indentures in sideboard , just gathering dust , I’ve often thought of going back in engineering / factory , but , well there’s always been that but , I’m 56 now and times have now moved on a lot , it’s all cnc these days wheras most of my work was on manual grinders , lathes , borers , millers and a bit on Masak lathes , I’m to old to learn to be honest
But I’m sure if I went back into engineering I could earn the same money for 1/2 the hours and home every night , n.b there was evening / night shifts as well , but I mainly did 6-14 .00 shift
