But if after you have checked your tax disc, you then check your tyres or whatever and you find that somethings not right, then you might not be going on the road either. So what difference does it make if you check your tax first as long as you do your checks properly.

Because a lot of people seem to second guess the tax and just leave it out an assume that it will be taxed.

But if you do your checks properly as you are meant to, then you will notice. You could say that you should check your fuel tank first cos if its empty then you are going nowhere. But we all have our own methodical ways of checking our trucks every day and if the OP prefers to check his tax first, then thats his choice. Iām not knocking that.

No not at all, what I meant was it would surprise you the amount of people who donāt check their tax disk before climbing into the cab.

Probably very true Sam. I drive the same truck every day though, so as long as nobody has nicked the disc overnight, I know I should ok. The first thing i check in the morning is for damage. Just so i can report it right away to a supervisor before i even open the cab door. Keeps me in the clear if there is new damage done.
Check your Tax first? Is that really what your teacher taught you?
Tell me who he is, Iāll give him a kick in the nuts for being a ā ā ā ā .
Do you not check your insurance policy first, make sure thereās no hidden clauses about having a ā ā ā ā as an instructor?
What about checking the gaffers bank account, make sure heās good for the O license security?
Or ring the DVLA first, make sure your license is still valid, hasnāt been suspended without your knowledge?
'kin ell, why not check your contract first, make sure you actually work there?

Many fleet operators donāt have insurance in the same way we do for our cars. They take out liability insurance, and then effectively ālay the oddsā for the fleet themselves. I donāt think there are any fleet operators with plenty of workshops that donāt use this system.
If some mickey mouse firm tries to sign you up with an insurance excess for driving their motor, then chances are they donāt have enough cover, and are very likely operating bent IMHO.
