Ok passed class one last week and I’ve bagged myself a driving assessment (through an agency) at yearsleys…
Any one know the drill? Not just with what to expect on the assessment, but in general are you signed up there an then or do they just like to assess drivers so they have people to call on?
Also how strict is the assessment? (They have been told I’m brand new)
Last thing it’s at the hams hall depot in Birmingham. Anyone know what there like to work for etc?
Excited to say the least…

Cant say about driver assessments, as they would all be different, only had 2, one was conducted by an HGV driving school, and the instructor acted as an examiner, but was only having to write a report for my prospective employer. The other was conducted by a driver who happened to be kicking around the yard on a Saturday morning, and by coincidence, I happened to know the driver reasonably well(we had worked together previously), but I realised that this was a ploy to get Me away from the yard for half an hour whilst the TM and his side kick discussed whether to offer me the job
Don’t know what Yearsleys are like as an employer, but I do regular work into Hams Hall, and they seem reasonably friendly.
The job and everything else with it is easy tbh! All I will say on Yearsley [emoji108][emoji108]

What’s an assessment?
Just drive safe and slow (making progress), just as if you would on your test.
They want things to arrive in one piece (along with the truck), you won’t get marks for racing, quite the opposite…
Best of luck!
Thanks all! Will pop back tomorrow with good news hopefully
They may ask you to hook up to a trailer.
Check height before it bashes the cab in.
Short drive then uncouple the trailer.
Basic tachograph rules test.
Multiple choice questions.
Induction on their health and safety on their sites and customers sites.
Introduction to your planners and managers.
Good luck and relax.
Thanks for all the advice… Assessment went really well! I’m in for one day this side of the weekend then in to the 4on 4off rota as of Monday!!!
Happy days
