Driving assessment tomorrow

I have a driving assessment tomorrow for
salvesen doing class 1 multidrop at night
to car dealerships about 5 drops in total.
Start time will be 10pm or 2am. Any advice
or tips that you think might help would be
gratefully received thanks

Just take it steady and safe, you should be alright. They are not looking for the next Jenson Button, they want to know you will get wagon back in one piece without having any insurance companies ringing them up!!!

I did quite a bit of overnight dealership delivery work about 8 or 9 years ago, I quite enjoyed it. Usually you were given a big bunch of keys and a few maps and then off you went. I did it for Porsche and for BMW, so was quite good to have a look around the forecourts when it was empty.

Good Luck :stuck_out_tongue:

Convoy good luck mate. Just take it easy and remember itā€™s not a driving test they canā€™t take your licence away. Let us know how you get on.

The driving assessment went well. Filled a tacho in
and then went for a run and was out for about 45
minutes. When we got back I did a good side reverse
in to a bay using 1 shunt to get it evenly straight in the
box. I then uncoupled filled the truck up and parked it
up round the front as it was going out. I then did a fast
track medical over the phone which I passed. He then
told me I did a good safe drive and got a clean check
sheet. I felt a bit nervous but not as much as the test
day for class 1 and I feel I did a good drive but it could
have been just a little better. The vehicle was a 04
plate daf cf with curtainsided trailer. The trainer said I
learned him something new today while out driving
which was how to know the speed for the roads I was
on which I picked up from L&T while doing class 1.

I have an interview next week at 23:00 hours as the boss
works nights. There is a few people for the job and I hope
my inexperience dont go against me and I am not very
good in interviews.

The job would be perfect as you fill up in the yard only and
its delivering car parts to dealerships and all daf trucks

Good luck with the interview

Glad it went well Convoy. Hope it goes even better for the interview. Sounds like a good job,
.

It does sound a good job so far and I will
let you know how the interview goes.

Let me guess. Built up area. If the side roads have 30 signs, then the road you are on has a higher speed limit.

Good luck with the interview.

You might recall i got a start with Salvessen Based at Normanton Early last yearā€¦ I lasted a weekā€¦ 15 drops normal into crappy little drops this was days mind. If i can find the thread i will post it.

All the best :open_mouth:

this was it :open_mouth:

here

bets of luck with the inteview convoyā€¦

Well done on the assessment convoy, good luck with the interview. :sunglasses:

Krankee it was using those pieces of wood
on motorways and duel carriageways that are
blue and orange or green and orange. When
I did my test at walton there is a section of
road with 3 lanes that people think 3 lanes
and think its a motorway and there are no
signs for probably a mile or so but if you
look for the wood it as green on the top
which tells you its a duel carriageway.
Also like you say there is also that method
of looking up the side roads.

Did they say from the beginning to you
bones that it would be 15 drops or less
as they have told me 5 drops.

Go for it, if thats what you want mate, but take it from someone whoā€™s ā€œbeen there, done thatā€. It aint fun!!! Dont want to say too much on here apart from the 10pm start will see you going down to Coventry to load up before doing your ā€œ5ā€ drops round yorkshire. Your 2am start will see you loading yourself with roller-cages and a pump-truck for the pallets. You do your deliveries, collecting any return cages, then return to depot to unload yourself. Depending on what time you get back you will be re-loaded with general freight for some local deliveries. If you want to know owt else then feel free to send me an e-mail or a pm.

But like I said if its the one for you then go for it, and good luck.

Finally had my CL2 assesment with DHL on thursday.

Been on about it since i passed 2 months ago!
Then they suddenly had this mad panic to get it done as they need me to pick up amazon stuff from the hub till xmas!

Only thing i really did wrong was drifted into a wrong lane in Maidstoneā€™s one way system (i didnt know where the assesor wanted me to go) and pulling down the M20 slip road i didnt realise i was already in top and tried for another gear (which resulted breifly in 5th!) But passed, and was happy with that seeing as iā€™ve only been out in the ocasional 7.5 since i passed!

spent an hour or so on friday practicing doing box swaps (paranoid of ripping the tail lights off now!)
